Let’s hear the words of the american brewer:
”Brooklyn Lager is amber-gold in color and displays a firm malt center supported by a refreshing bitterness and floral hop aroma. Caramel malts show in the finish. The aromatic qualities of the beer are enhanced by “dry-hopping”, the centuries-old practice of steeping the beer with fresh hops as it undergoes a long, cold maturation. The result is a wonderfully flavorful beer, smooth, refreshing and very versatile with food. Dry-hopping is largely a British technique, which we’ve used in a Viennese-style beer to create an American original”

That is a promising introduction so lets get to it
The eye
Pouring indicates a good, sparkly carbonation. A one finger, light brown head tops a quite clear amber golden beer
The nose
Out of the fridge, the nose is freshly hoppy flowery, with faint notes of dry rye bread and a touch of toffe sweetness. The nose gets more coherent and even as it tempers. Good balance between hops and the sweetness and a developing trace of myrtle pepper and maybe faint licorice
The tongue
It is prickly and lively out of the fridge. Medium to descrete bitterness and faint lemony acidity. Also a solid but dry sweetness that blends in well and does not overpower. As it tempers, the body develops and the sence of spices like pepper and faint cinnamon appear. I guess the dry hopping is the resson for this rather intersting mix of flavors. Even if they do not hit you hard, it makes for a good experience.
The verdict
A surprisingly complex beer, it is fine both straight from the fridge and up to 30 mins of tempering. It is not one of those that turns your head and challenge your tastebuds as such. But it is a very decent beer that I am sure goes well with roasted or lightly spiced food.
