HOPPY HOUR: PEAK ORGANIC IPA

I drank iced hops tea all day. I had a Peak Organic IPA. Who am I kidding? I am addicted to hops!!! Hell, I'll even change his series name to Hoppy Hour so you get my point.

Well this beer, my friends, packs a hefty hoppy punch. Right after opening the bottle I was hit with the scent of acres of hops.

Just imagine driving through a city and as you leave, some saints have grown hops just outside the city walls. The hops vegetation is so dense the aromas fill your car and the fragrance is still heavy in your car long after you've passed through the fields.

This, my friends, was before the first sip. It was magical enough that I questioned why all breweries didn't dedicate one beer to being organic. I would pay extra!

The first sip had a citrusy honey richness to it. The bitterness was in the background and did not interrupt the steady rolling hops taste.

After having hops tea, I realize how important time is in the brewing process. There is a maturity and wholesome quality in this hoppy beer that was missing in my other tastings. Where hops tea is a prequel to hops, this Peak Organic is the feature presentation and sequel all in one sip.

The fourth sip has me wondering what specific hops are used in this brew. I mean, how can it be this good?!?

The beer has three types of hops: Simcoe, Amarillo, and Nugget. I also see the Peak has beers for every season, a local line of New England beers, and a peculiar oak aged mocha stout!

There is a flavor I can't wrap my head around. It is like a mystery dessert hiding in the glass. I can taste it, but can't see it.

I am literally sucking the inside of my mouth to figure this out. Is it oatmeal cookies? Nope. Baklava crust dipped in honey? Close, but not quite. I end the last sip with this unknown heaven dipped flavor begging me for more taste time. IMG_3499.JPG
