Fairway to Heaven!! With Kveik Yeast.
On Friday I was testing some beer again, this time it was a Fairway to Heaven brewed by the Kennel brewery in Durbanville, in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. This is a small craft brewery, doing various types of beer in smaller batches. I have tried a few of their beers and did like their beers.
I have not heard of Kveik yeast before, but googled it. This yeast ferments quicker than the standard yeast and can withstand higher temperatures, without producing off-tastes!! This should actually be a great yeast for homebrewers, here in South Africa where temperatures can be a bit high for the yeast in summer. You can read more about Kveik by clicking on the link.
This beer comes in a 330ml can, and has 4% alcohol. It pours in a nice golden color with a large head on top.
The label says Fairway to Heaven and on the side make a hole in one, well this one did not do it for me, I think they hit more grass than ball as this one had a bit of a grassy taste in the mouth!! I suppose all their beers cannot please everybody all of the time - as I said that I did love the previous beers, that I tasted from this brewery, I just did not like this particular one.
I hope you liked the post as much as I liked writing it.
I hope you have a wonderful day!!
