Brewed by:

Little Creatures Brewing Company

Alcohol Content:

4.5%

Beer Type:

English Pale Ale

History:

Little Creatures Brewing Company started with a group of mates. All hailing from the beer scene, these guys wanted to brew an awesome, hop-driven American Pale Ale with a distinctive aroma and delicious flavour. They setup a small craft brewery in Western Australia and the rest is history. The brewery now produces 2 beers year round and a range of other seasonal beers depending on the availability of ingredients, particularly hop varieties.

Drinkers Review:

Little Creatures Bright Ale has the makings of a decent session beer. It is a great summer drinking beer where the light, citrus overtones make it so so easy to drink more then you expect after a hard days work. Its not the cheapest beer though and cost $60+ on the East Coast of Australia. I really enjoyed this beer. Good floral hop aromas and fruitiness on the palate making it very easy to drink. It has a clear golden colour and goes beautifully with a variety of foods. Perfect with a steak on the BBQ and a range of good cheeses like a blue or aged cheddar. It doesn't beat a good Coopers Pale Ale or the original Little Creatures Pale Ale but it's worth chugging back a few bottles on a warm summer's evening... Give it a try.

chilled beer wont be a bad idea on a sunny day

So is it an English or an American pale ale ?

The article says it's an English pale ale with a history of an American pale ale & made in Oz. It seems to have all the bases covered.

& do you know if it's a wheat beer like some of the other WA beers or a barley based mash ?

Oh I love little creatures, I used to go there in Fremantle all the time!

I visited the brewery once and it was fun! The pale ale is great.

Great drop that!

Darn, I was totally hoping that Little Creatures was an independent brewery but alas! They are owned by Lion, who is owned by Kirin.

I've only been to Sydney (and Ettalong Beach) for a few days but I noticed that the typical bar is nothing but Lion brands, despite a small brewery being just a few miles away. Have you noticed the same thing?

not independent but they still crank out some decent brews - can be a minefield trying to work out who owns who in the brewery world

Sounds like Australia needs an "Independent" label like here in the US. 😉🍻

Also, I find that googling "Who owns ______ Brewery" is fairly effective. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It wasn't all that long ago that they were bought out actually.

Nice review mate, you really need to start submitting these for @detlev's #BeerSaturday competition. :D

Thanks. I used to submit them and probably should start again!

Makes me miss Australia.... Beer scene in Melbourne was awesome and just starting to explode when I lived there in 2010-2012.

Definitely a drinkable beer. A bit lighter than I prefer, but a good drop nonetheless.
