THE EVOLUTION OF THE KROPEN [BEER PONG]

in beerpong •  7 years ago  (edited)

It didn't start as much, just a kid living his typical high school life. Drinking that lucky lager or PBR and usually feeling the buz after about 3-4 cold ones. Somehow he'd end up coming home with more beers then he brought not remembering how.

Most of those weekend nights were spent around a ping pong table or any table as a matter of fact. Usually surrounded by 10 Red Solo cups on either side of the table playing the game they all loved so much.

BEERPONG

The parents didn't really know much about what happened on the weekends. It was usually a sleep over there, or a sleepover here. Little clueless they were or just made it seem that way! None the less when the young boy officially turned of age everything changed!!

THE KROPEN

Since I've been 18 I have hosted a beer pong tournament for me and my group of friends. Usually between 16-30 team! It has evolved greatly over the years! From trophies, to bigger prizes, snap chat filter, more cash! People getting ICED! Here are a few photos to show the evolution of the tournament!

1st annual KROPEN

This was back in the early stages when it was march madness style 1 and done! Clearly it only laster one year because who would want to only play one game! Me and my buddy Tanner had been planning it for months and we ended up coming out with the W!! I need to find the photo of us winning just not sure where it is, hopefully in the cloud!

2nd annual KROPEN

I switched it up this year and played with a good buddy of mine Kyle(DUI) I'm sure you get why! Anyways as you can see I made it into two separate brackets this year so people could play more games! We went a perfect 9-0 in the tournament only losing a game in the semis and finals since they were Best of 3! We both played quite well the whole tournament and came out with the W!

3rd annual KROPEN

I decided to play with another close friend this year a good buddy Jordan! I think I was a little confident going into it and I had a few too many beers early on. We still played quite well and even made it to the final. We played Kyle who I won with the previous year and Josh another good friend and good beerpong player. Except he always had to play with his girlfriend the past years.

Anyways we won the first game but the next two went downhill quick "from what I've been told" I woke up the next morning having zero memory of playing in the finals. My brothers girlfriend at the time was a paramedic and they were about to bring me to the hospital cause I was so unresponsive. "Like thats never happened before*! So yeah we lost in the finals and wasn't a KROPEN to remember thats for sure!

4th annual KROPEN

This was the first year i implemented a co-ed rule! I decided every 4 years I would make it co-ed! Again this year didn't go great for me I had a little to much to drink and I ended up loosing out in the Semi finals to Josh who won the year before. Shockingly a last minute exit from his girlfriend made him pick up a girl name Jordan Svoboda and they ended up taking home the Kropen this year.

Somehow no photos were taken on my part, or I've lost them somewhere but I will add them if I find them! :)

5th annual KROPEN

Again another year with not many pictures! I don't know why but this yeah I decided to play with Justin another friend of mine. Great guy but average beerpong player ;)! Hopefully he never reads this. I think we barely snuck into the playoffs and got knocked out in the final 16. It wasn't a great year and it ended up being a booze filled night after that.

6th annual KROPEN

Kropen 6th annual.jpg

This year was a little unexpected. Me and Jaeger lost 2 out of our first 4 game we had to win 1 out of 2 of our last games in group play to make it to the round of 16. Which we did just barely, and then in the playoffs having to make redemption and then win overtime to go to game 3 in the quarter finals.

In the semis we lost the first game and then bounced back quite convinsingly! The the finals we played Tony and Steve.. and Tony did what he could to keep the boys alive but me and Jaeger were dialled in and we swept them in 2 games!

After all the 5 cop cars showed up outside. Were told there was a huge party going on... which wasn't the case at all! It was the first time in 6 years the cops have been there!

Hope you're excited for this July neighbours cause the 7th annual isn't to far away! ;)

Love hearing good beer pong stories, @kryptocek! No great story starts with "I drank 14 cups of water, then I..." 😆

If you dare, head to Las Vegas! Played a few places there, you can let us know when you go and @boastports90 can setup the prop bets..LOL You can actually gamble on beer pong out there! And they have massive prize pools for it. Maybe next tourney you do should be for the trip to Vegas!?

haha I sure can't think of many you got that right lol!

Damn now you're thinking I think @boatsports90 will be all over the prop bets! Hopefully it would be going on around the same time as march madness or Super Bowl would be great!

Yeah I've seen it before I think its the World Series of Beer Pong! Crazy the turnout they get for it! Might have to think about it one day haha.

Hell yea dude! I need to organize I beer pong tourney, that'd be so much fun. Kinda running out of time though 😂

Haha it’s always a blast! If only it was a little closer you could drive on up but I probably wouldn’t recommend it!

That'd be a blast, but yea I doubt that'll happen anytime soon, haha.

This is sick!

When I lived in Queensland it was in a big student complex with people from all over the world.

As soon as the guys and girls from #teamcanada seen my skills they recruited me and I was a veteran on that team for 3 years :)

I just hated to let my team down, so nothing but a win was acceptable.

It also helped that I could knock now any drink put in the cups no matter how bad it tasted!

haha it definitely is a combination of being able to pound the drinks and sink the cups! You definitely have to make an appearance one day! Or we host one down in Australia. Get the steemit community together there. Instead of cash we all donate steem!

I just sent you a message on discord have a check when you get time :)

Can't wait for the 8th annual :-)))))))

I think I need to fly over to watch it live!

Watch it live!! You'll be playing it in man! TEAM OZ in da house!

Why not participate!? I'll play with ya ;-)

hahaha This is great! You know, it's these sorts of things that you will look back on and smile when the days are shorter...

My eldest daughter and her husband host an annual Non-Athletic Olympics for their friends in the summer. Beach games, board games, arcade games. They have a blast, and I'm trying to work my way in at some point. Ha!

Great post, and I hope the tournament runs for many a year!
