My First Day at Steemit

Hola! I'm Andrés. I'm 28 y/o and based out of San José, Costa Rica.

I wanted to make my first post useful, for first time Steemers just like me! I hope I'm able to update this, as I get more and more experienced and get your feedback as well.

On this article, I'd like to explain what I was looking for, how I found it, and what I'll be doing moving forward, as recommended by the great @jerrybanfield. Thanks for the course!

What was I looking for?

I recently got interested into crypto currency due to the latest increase in its value, volatility and relatively easy to start. I started searching on Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit for trending topics around it. I was able to subscribe to a trading site called CEX.io and buy my first ETH and BTC. But what other ways than trading crypto were available in the market to make money?

How I found it?

As I continued to dive deeper into the crypto world, I ran into the concept of mining Bitcoins. I was blown away by the fact that I was able to build a mine of my own, but overwhelmed by the technical/hardware requirements that involve setting everything up from scratch with little knowledge.

While browsing on Facebook this week, I ran into a post from Mashable, that spoke about a new system that lets you mine Bitcoins with a very little investment of $100 - $120 a month. It was @jerrybanfield teaching on how to become a full Steemit member and the different ways to use a combination of Social Media publications, with the blockchain technology to participate as a witness for transactions that happen on the web.

What Will I be doing Forward?

I'll start with setting up my server for mining as per Jerry's advice with. Its system makes a lot of sense, and if you are already somewhat savvy with Linux, you can go ahead and get rolling. This basic training is also very valuable for first timers to get familiarized on the Steem witness environment.

@someguy123 has also published some basics on what a STEEM witness is, vital to understanding the community. Thank you sir for the support!

Conclusion

I'd like to also use this platform to publish some of my thoughts on an upcoimg crypto called Paragon.. Stay tuned for a strategy that I'll be posting in hopes to gather advice and hopefully provide an interesting idea to invest crypto in the following week!
