Hello all,
Today I share with you some pictures from the area where I live in South Belgium.
With the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg laying on the east, together with my fiancé her brother we went west to "La Gaume"
The Gaume area is a small region in southeast Belgium which is in my eyes very charming because of its villages, nature, laidback mentality and gives you the feeling you traveling back in time.
Special about this sunny day was that most places were covered in snow and this set the tone for a positive vibe.
We visited 6 places and I will give you a short description.
CHASSEPIERRE
Chassepierre litteraly means "house of stone" and is listed as one of the most beautiful villages of Wallonia, because of its rural nature,
monumental buildings, architectal heritage and communale volunteering to enhance the heritage.

HERBEUMONT
Herbeumont is a small town, which caught our attention for its bridge and almost abandonned camping park.
BOUILLON
Bouillon is famous for its castle, which is a major tourist attraction.
Popular activities in the area are kayaking and hiking.
Interesting fact is that Bouillon was shortly a republic in 1794, before being annexed by France.
It also used to be duchy for centuries alternately under the control of France and the Prince-Bishopric of Liège
To be brief, it is city with a lot of history and ideal place for a short holiday.

ORVAL ABBEY
The Orval abbey is an abbey founded in the 12 century, which is famous for its trappist beer and cheese.
This site is interesting to discover how the monks in the past had their way of living.

MONTMEDY (FR)
Being the only town of the region in France and claiming to be a part of La Gaume as well, we took a short stop in Montmédy.
The city has a down part and a high part. The citadel was located on the high part and this was the place we visited.
While being there, the area gave us more or less of being partly abandoned as you can see in the pictures.
TORGNY
Torgny is the most southern place in Belgium and was our final stop of the day.
Just like Chassepierre, Torgny is also listed as one of the most beautiful villages of Wallonia.
It is famous for its soft micro-climate, which makes "Viticulture" possible in the area.
As you can see on the picture below, houses are made out of yellow stone from the area. This gives quite a colorful scenery.
CONCLUSION
There are more places to visit and better pictures can be taken as well. :)
I hope with this post to make you hungry to visit my area to view to beauty with your own eyes.
