I wish I knew this about MYSELF thirty years ago…

Nobody can be reasoned out of a position they did not reason themselves into.

The strongest and most vigorous defenses in an argument always belong to the side that was first arrived at through emotion. They develop the position with the heart and the gut. Then they develop what seems like a strong defense of it, but if you look close enough, you realize it’s missing one thing — the foundation.

So, whether it’s something your parents taught you… or something you did as a young person and now must defend yourself… or just something that sounded good thirty years ago, when you had less wisdom, and you believe it through sheer nostalgia.

What you did not reason yourself into, you cannot be reasoned out of.

A lot of internet time is wasted trying to do this. It cannot be done.
