Not So June Afternoon Very Cool Conditions
Its a Not So June Afternoon Very Cool Conditions over all of the area today. Where there is still a lot of cloud cover from NYC northeastward temperatures are in the lower 60s and even the upper 50s. This at least is a recovery from the temperatures this morning which were in the 50-55 degree range with a few upper 40s in the mix. The day started miserable but we are seeing improvement. Sunshine has broken out south and west of NYC where temperatures at least are in the upper 60s and lower 70s. With the average high in the mid to upper 70s some areas are going to finish 10 or more degrees below average which is a rather large departure for this time of year. At least the rain is long gone and won't be an issue going forward tonight and into the first part of Tuesday. Skies should at least partially clear out tonight with most lows in the 50s.

Radar shows this morning's rain with an offshore developing low is continuing to move away to the east. To the north in upstate NY we have some scattered instability showers. The radars are not showing anything of consequence nearby.

Tuesday we will have some sunshine which should bring temperatures back to average with highs in the mid to upper 70s. Late in the afternoon and evening a cold front will be moving through. Some showers or a thunderstorm are likely to be scattered around with the frontal passage. Behind the front a nice high builds in for Wednesday and Thursday. There will be a bit of instability in the atmosphere on Wednesday so some clouds will develop and a passing afternoon shower can't be ruled out. Highs will be on the cool side with readings in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Thursday should be mainly sunny with highs in the low to mid 70s. Warmer air returns Friday with some sun and clouds and highs reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s.
The weekend is going to hinge on another stalled front buckling with a warm front coming through late Saturday and a cold front on Sunday. Right now we would lean to the idea that much of Saturday will be dry until the late afternoon or evening when some showers could develop. Sunday brings a cold front with showers or a thunderstorm but I would lean against any kind of all day wash out. The longer range has a cool air mass coming into the Northeast early next week as weather systems continue to move along and the air mass feed from Canada remains active.
