At the GRAMMY Awards on Sunday night, Ben Affleck was not himself. A source tells ET about Affleck's date night with his wife, Jennifer Lopez, after the 50-year-old gained notoriety for his less-than-excited facial expressions during the event.
The source said, "Jen and Ben had a great date night at the GRAMMYs, but they've both been very busy working on a lot of projects, and Ben was feeling fatigued." He wanted to support Jen and go, but he wasn't himself.
The insider continues, "Jen had a terrific time and wanted Ben to be happy to be there, but she knew where he was coming from. Jen is a wonderful wife, and they still made an effort to enjoy their time together.
Lopez "knows how supportive Ben is toward her and her job, but also recognizes that Ben is more of a homebody, and it isn't his thing to be out at events all the time," the insider continues.
She appreciates his support, the insider says, whether they are spending time at home or out and about.
Following the ceremony, Lopez appeared to respond to her husband's popular memes on Instagram by making a subtly humorous reference to their GRAMMYs experience.
Lopez added, "Always the nicest time with my love, my hubby," beneath a montage video showcasing her jewel-encrusted Gucci gown. Harry Styles, who performed "As It Was" early in the ceremony and later won Album of the Year among other awards, provided the music for the video.
Affleck appeared to be bored during performances and presentations when Lopez and Affleck were sat in the first row of the GRAMMYs audience. His facial expressions quickly became the subject of online memes.
One Twitter user made the quip that "Ben Affleck is how every male dragged to a couples baby shower looks."
Another person commented, "Ben Affleck, blink if you're okay #Grammys," while another made allusion to Affleck's most recent Dunkin' campaign.
The person commented, "Ben Affleck seems like he'd rather be at Dunkin'," alongside a screenshot of his expressionless face.
Lopez gave Styles the prize for Best Pop Vocal Album during the performance. She and Affleck sat at a table with Lauren Hashian, the wife of Dwayne Johnson.
Throughout the event, Affleck and Lopez were seen speaking to one another by an ET eyewitness. Trevor Noah, the host of the GRAMMYs, made a point to stop and speak with the power couple, and at one point, Affleck moved over to Adrien Brody to chat and take pictures with him.
