Benue youths removed APC flag from Ortom’s SUV
WONDERS: BENUE YOUTHS AT WAR WITH APC MEMBERS
Benue youths numbering over 300 on Wednesday stopped Governor Samuel Ortom from meeting members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC) in Abuja.
Ortom was schedule to meet the party leaders and discuss his grievances with the APC leader in Benue State, Senator George Akume.
The governor had claimed last week that he was given a red card by APC in Benue.
Base on the allegation, the party’s NEC invited Ortom and Akume to Abuja for reconciliation.
While Governor Ortom and his convoy were moving out of the Government House for Abuja, youths under the aegis of Collation of Benue Youths (CBY) led by Pastor Dave Ogbole blocked him with placards.
Some of the placards read: “Ortom don’t go back to APC,” and “Ortom don’t go to Abuja we don’t have land to donate for ranching.”
The youths also blocked the road leading to the Government House.
They also removed the APC flag on the governor’s official vehicle.
The spokesman for the group, Pastor Dave Ogbole, said there was no need for Governor Ortom to go to the APC National Secretariat.
He said the Federal Government is insensitive to killings in Benue State and urged the governor to look for another platform for his political activities.
