The construction of the opera house in Mexico was paid for by citizens of Frankfurt. Opera was built on the project of the Berlin architect Richard Luke. At that time luxurious staircase known as the "Imperial Staircase". The auditorium accommodated more than two thousand people. Opera was considered one of the most important opera houses in Germany, where premieres of many famous works were held.
