cone shaped stone structure
Mt Shasta, CA, USA   -   2014

From my series Mt Shasta in monochrome

This is another shot from the pineal-cone-shaped stone sculpture on Mt Shasta, a dormant volcano and energy vortex which draws spiritual minded people from all over the world, featured in a recent post.

Great shot by itself, i wonder how long did it take to build such a structure... And i wonder how long it would stand? probably thousands of years if some mean person would not kick it :)

Yes thanks :) I'm slowly building a posting template that I can use in multiple places.

These structures last a few months, until the snow comes in November. This will be completely covered in snow during the winter and if there is snow movement, the structures will be damaged also. I haven't hiked this high in early spring, so I don't know how big of a toll the winter has, but I guess structures need to be at least partially rebuild.

Oh, this is so sad... i was thinking if undisturbed it might stand for thousands of years... :)

Ah, yeah, not here. Every year after the winter the mountain looks different.
