This photo was taken Canon 5D Mark 2, ef 85 F / 1.2 As a lighting used beauty dish and a lamp with a fresnel lens.
To create additional softness, in addition to the fully open aperture F1,2, a gel was applied to the protective filter of the lens. Allowed to make an additional soft effect outside the center of the frame.

Since one game depth of field was not enough to create the right emphasis for me only on the face. In the field of sharpness, the fingers of the hands, which were at the same level relative to the optical axis with the nose of the model, also fell.

Not standard, yes. But here the desire for a point accent was exceptional, and not just a reflection in the shallow depth of field. Initially, I also did not plan the use of the gel, and I calculated to achieve the desired properties of the lens. But it was not enough. Then already decided to resort to gel. :)
