Are you looking for the best hiking backpack?

We’ll break down the top hiking backpacks available whilst comparing them for price versus performance. Before we get started  detailing the best hiking backpacks on the market, we have included links in the description for each product mentioned, so make sure you check those out to see which one is in your budget range. Starting off at number 1 we have the Osprey Men's Atmos 65 AG Backpacks. This is the backpack you'll want to take whether your hiking for two days or two months. At just 4 pounds, it's a fairly lightweight option (though some people find it a bit heavy when added to the rest of their gear). However, you will never complain about it being uncomfortable. The well-designed structure hugs your body providing the perfect fit and no movement whatsoever. Durability is definitely one of the "pros" of this hiking backpack. It's made with durable nylon, which means it's tear and water resistant. The backpack is designed for 4-season use, and it can handle cold, heat, rain, and wind with no problem. And the good news is, Osprey will repair any damage or defect for any reason free of charge – whether it was purchased in 1974 or yesterday. If you like extra pockets then you'll love this pack. There are five exterior zippered pockets and three slip pockets. On top of that, the front mesh pocket that Osprey is known for can also fit a lot of gear, and you can keep all of your rain gear in it for quick and easy access. The anti-gravity suspension puts this backpack in a league of it's own. It really makes a difference in keeping you cool during hot days. One of the best features of this pack is the angled water bottle pocket. With the Osprey, you can easily reach on either side to grab your 32 ounce Nalgene bottle. It's a game changer. The $250 price may be a bit steep considering the fact that there are much cheaper hiking backpacks out there. However, if you plan on doing some serious hiking and want a backpack that comfortably fits all of your overnight gear, it's a worthwhile investment. At number 2 we have the TETON Sports Scout 3400. Compact and easy on your back, this internal frame backpack provides 3,400 cubic inches of storage space. It's lightweight and built for day trips, but it's comfortable thanks to the padding on the straps and the lumbar area. The wide straps will help to stabilize the backpack, and you get plenty of additional pocket and compartment space. The torso length pack fits just about anyone - unless of course you're under 5'3" then it becomes too tall. It features adjustable shoulder and waist straps so that you can really customize the fit. The 55-liter backpack is the perfect size to carry everything that you might need on long distance treks. It sits comfortably on the waist and shoulders, and if packed right, is well balanced. This lightweight backpack weighs in at lbs. Every part of this backpack is extremely durable, including the pockets which are made with ripstop material. We couldn't find one person that complained about the quality. If for some reason you do happen to rip your bag, Teton will send you a new one thanks to their Lifetime Warranty. Teton has really gone above and beyond when it comes to extra features. The side mesh pockets hold your water bottle snugly and give you easy access to snacks while the front mesh pocket and bungee storage are perfect for stashing your shoes, jacket, sunscreen or map. This backpack features zippered pockets on each side in addition to internal and external hood pockets. You'll be able to keep a water bladder cool in the padded pocket inside of the main compartment. However, the bladder isn't included. We love that this pack also features a safety yellow rainfly that stays hidden until you need it. If it starts raining during your hike, simply pull it out to protect your pack and gear. This backpack also has gear loops to hang ski poles and a top carry-loop to make it easy for loading into the car. For such a comfortable and quality-made backpack, you really can't beat the $60 price. Other backpacks this size cost twice as much. At number 3 we have the TETON Sports Oasis 1100 2 Liter Hydration Backpack. The small size of this hiking backpack means men, women, and even children can wear it. And, the 18-liter capacity means you can fit everything you need for a day hike. The low-profile athletic cut fits higher than a typical backpack making it a lot more comfortable. You’ll appreciate the cushioned, breathable mesh back panel, as well as the adjustable mesh shoulder straps and chest strap, giving you the perfect fit. The Oasis backpack is made with extremely durable ripstop material. Not only is it tough, but it's also water-resistant. And, you can rest easy knowing that if anything should happen to your pack, Teton provides a lifetime warranty. This high-quality hydration backpack includes a 2-liter (70 ounce) bladder so you'll never go thirsty on a hike again. Plus, it's BPA-free, which is also nice. The Oasis also comes with two side elastic waterbottle holders in case the 70 ounces isn't enough. And, it features a deep 9” mesh pocket to hold your keys, wallet, phone, or snacks. This backpack comes in five awesome colors including green, orange, and black. But our favorite is the bright blue and bright green. The $40 price is a steal for a hydration backpack. Brands like Camelback can be a lot more expensive. As a bonus, this pack comes with a free rain cover. At number 4 we have the Hikpro Ultra Lightweight Backpack Hiking Daypack. The 20-liter backpack is a lot roomier than it looks! It will hold just about anything you might need for a day hike such as lunch, a light jacket, and a water bottle. Not only can you use it for hiking, but it's great for travel as well. The Hikpro folds up into a sandwich-sized pocket for when you're not using it. The best part is, you can stick it in your luggage and you won't even notice it's there. For $17, this backpack holds up surprisingly well. It's designed with tear-resistant nylon material and SBS metal zippers that are very sturdy. Since this backpack is made with nylon, it's also water resistant. Although it will protect the contents in the light rain, it's not entirely water proof. The Hikpro was designed to be simple so that it could be as lightweight as possible. This means that there aren't a whole lot of extra features built-in. There are three zippered compartments in addition to two large size mesh pockets for storing water. The little built-in zipper pouch inside the backpack is just the right size to store a little extra cash, keys, or copies of your I.D. The Hikpro comes in four colors including teal, navy, red, and black. For the price, this backpack can't be beat. The $17 price tag makes this of the cheapest hiking backpacks on our list. And for our final pick at number 5 we have the Outlander Packable Lightweight Travel Hiking Backpack Daypack. For less than $20, you get a daypack that can handle up to 33 liters, weighs half a pound, and is built to last. While it's not as durable as some on this list, it's beautifully lightweight and compact. With multiple compartments and pockets for an umbrella, water bottle, and valuables, it's an awesome choice for those going on short outings. This backpack comes in two sizes: the 20 liter and 33 liter. Although this pack may look small, it actually holds much more than you would think. Some even use this as an overnight bag. Even though it's extremely roomy, it only weighs a half a pound. So depending on what you pack, you'll barely feel it during those long hikes. It's a true space saver. The Outlander is super compact making it perfect for travel as well. It folds into a zippered inner pocket so that you can tuck it inside your luggage or keep it in your car. Don't be fooled by the cheap price tag, this baby is tough. It's made from highly rip and water resistant nylon fabric. And, if anything should happen to your backpack, Outlander promises a lifetime warranty and will send you a new one. The Outlander bag is about as simple as it gets. There are three compartments and a few smaller pockets. However, it doesn't come with any fancy features. It's availble in nine awesome colors including green, blue, orange, red, pink, and purple. You really can't beat the price of this backpack. At less than $20 for either size, it's the cheapest on our list. So that sums up our top hiking backpacks of 2019. We hope you enjoyed.
