Straight Debian open source only. This is the fourth wifi card I purchased. This one works far better than the proprietary crap. Receives signals that others could not imagine. Worked without any proprietary driver install.Any wireless manager might work, but this is how I did it because I use openbox (no desktop):$ sudo apt-get install iw wpasupplicant wicd$ sudo apt-get purge network-manager connman # wicd, network-manager and connman are mutually exclusive$ sudo /etc/init.d/dbus reload$ sudo /etc/init.d/wicd start$ wicd-client -n # GUI setup

Although it is not as per the picture, it does connect great with my fast U-Verse wireless two rooms away from where the main device is. As if there where no walls in between this device and the main setup. Also the computer is old and a Windows XP Professional. I'm happy, and the computer works great connecting to the internet, and downloading applications like AVG, Windows Updates, etc. Great product. Thanks for having it.

Bought this to work with my Western Digital TV Live Plus Media Player so I could connect via WiFi. Unfortunately its version is 3.1 and the WD needs 2.0 version. I'm going to keep it anyway because I might need it for a PC that's not connected to the internet. When I loaded it onto my Dell XP it was very easy and worked perfectly. This just wouldn't work with my media player. Decided to connect player via RJ45 Ethernet cable instead.

My husband and I bought three of these Wireless USB Adapters for TiVo 2. We noticed that the new ones work great with the TiVo and allow us to stream music to TiVo and transfer recordings from one TiVo to another.I want to make one note that we got what seems to be an older version of this model and TiVo get dropping the network adapter after about 10-20 minutes. Amazon sent us another one and it worked fine. So, if you have this problem, don't give up, but try a different USB adapter.

First of all, let me warn users of Windows 98 that, in spite of product claims, this product may not work well with Windows 98. I bought this, intending to use it to plug my existing Windows 98 machine into an existing wireless network (with the Netgear WR814 router). Some five aggravating hours later, I learned (via Usenet) that many Windows 98 users had much trouble getting this (and other USB) network adapters to work.Luckily, the timing was good for me to try an upgrade of this older (P3-500) machine to Windows XP Home Edition. Installation onto the same machine with the Windows XP OS took about 15 minutes. I now have a good solid working connection across the house from the router (40 feet away and through two walls).Given that I was willing and able to upgrade my older machine's OS, I'm very happy with the MA111's performance. I can't be sure about its compatibility with other versions of Windows, or with other OSs, and would strongly suggest that you check out online reviews (such as on Amazon.com),or just ask around, regardless of what the product package might tell you.

After I installed this adapter on my Dell Inspiron 5100 it didn't work at first. After reading Timothy Jackson's review I decided to try the newest Synaptics driver even though I didn't encounter the exact same problem as he did. Voila! It works after I upgraded my Synaptics driver v7.6.4. And I'm submitting this review via MA111 right at this moment.

This works pretty well, so far in 3 months it never got disconnected. I am getting a pretty decent speed of upto 20 MBPS download and 2.5 MBPS upload. Installing driver on my Windows 8 PC was full of bumps with Belkin website giving no help what so ever.

I am computer illiterate. It was simple with no fuss to install and works pretty smoothly. Not the fastest but totally worth the price. I would buy it again. Thoguh somwtimes i feel it delays a little too.much Iits not often.

I have to retract my previous review, as it appears the last time I used this product I happened to have a defective one. Recently, my old dual-band wifi adapter broke (an accident, dropped the laptop it was connected to and it snapped). A friend persuaded me to give the belkin adapter another try and I'm glad I did. I love it now. Far better than my old dual-band adapter. Once the driver is installed, there is no need to operate it through a separate system (as there was with my old adapter). It shows up directly in networks as "wifi 2" and operates almost like the built-in wifi on my laptop. By the way, the Amazon page for this adapter seems to indicate that it won't work with Windows 10. I am actually using it right now with Windows 10 to write this review, and I am finding it works absolutely fine. Another issue with my old adapter was that it would often drop connection: it would randomly disconnect from the internet from time to time without warning. Thus far I have NOT had that problem with the belkin adapter. It has a strong connection, good range on 5 ghz wifi, and the connection is steady and fast to establish. I have bought a 3.0 USB adapter cable so that I don't have a repeat of last time, and all in all I am extremely satisfied with this product. I would recommend it highly.
