This might be a subjective matter as different people tend to give different value to different things .. but here is my list of programming languages I value most.
1- Java is always the best choice. But if you are a beginner better start with
2- Python, is easier. And if you like to get your hands dirty with data then learn
3- R programming which can make you life as a data analyst a piece of cake and
4-SQL of course. You need SQL to query data. SQL is one of the most required skills from the market labor, it’s a skill a programmer must have as you always have to store and make CRUD operations. But if you want to bring your data online then you absolutely need..
5- Javascript and jQuery library.
You don't necessarily have to follow this order, but however knowing those languages will give you access to the biggest part of the code at Github.
Why is Java the best choice?
And as for jQuery, that's really not so relevant anymore today. It was revolutionary when it came out but all browsers adopted a lot of features from it, you rarely really need jQuery anymore nowadays. If advise JavaScript developers to look into Vue or React instead
