About half a year ago BetFury invited everyone to take part in searches for 0.5 BTC (~$5000 at that moment).
The key from the BTC wallet was divided into parts and hidden in the cartoon, website and social networks.
During all this time our players were doing their best to find the key. We even gave some hints, but the task was not so easy.
And on the last November day we’ve found out that there is the winner, who’s managed to steal 0.5 BTC from the wallet. At that moment the reward was almost twice bigger thanks to the increased BTC price:
~$9 700
The winner has shared his impressions and told about all the way of searches
Here is his story:
My journey started when I got interested in crypto puzzles. There is a cool discord channel dedicated to such puzzles and it was listed there, but it was strange, that it was half a year since the puzzle started and nobody solved it.
I started solving this puzzle on the 10th of November. After a while, maybe 1 week I asked a friend if he wanted to look at it.
Searching for clues:
The video actually was very informative, and very nice!) There were a lot of strange things in the video that you could think are connected to the puzzle, for example the end of the video, there could be data in buildings, the Roman MAK which was not needed at all
1. Kwe5xXsu
The first clue was the rebuses at the beginning of the video
We knew that the private key should start with either L or K
So the -273.5C is temperature in Celsius and probably there was a mistake so it had to be -273.15C because in Kelvins it’s 0 or just absolute zero which for the puzzle means 0K and since we had ‘ before 0K in rebus solving rules you have to ignore the first character so it’s just K
dw== was a base64 encoding of a w, you can tell it’s base64 by two == at the end
Then the binary 11100101 was decoded to hex as e5
The maths one was a simple quadratic equation, and the answer was x
‘’TRX and ☀️’ were the easiest, that was just X and su because in rebuses you get rid off the chars in a word by looking at the amount and position of the ‘
So we got Kwe5xXsu
2. f1AFFV37
The second clue was next in the video, you could see that when Satoshi was typing on keyboard there were some letters replaced with letters BFG
Simply pressing them anywhere on the website, gave you a popup with another part: f1AFFV37
3. cPe35JL2
Next was a Qr code when Fury’s boat was struck by lightning
It led to BetFury website, and as it appeared, you could find it in javascript files of the website, or as I did, it was constantly spamming a btc_key to the network tab of the devtools
which was: cPe35JL2
4. FmEj4xSo
Then you can see the link to the news page on Fury’s pc screen
It was pretty hard, but in the image from the news about the puzzle, if you put it in stegsolve(a tool to view steganography in images) you will see on the red blue and green zero layers in the upper left corner something similar to morse code, but then with help of a friend, you just had to extract the data from these layers and it got you: FmEj4xSo
5. HRPD6z5zh
A qr code at the top of the stage led to BetFury twitter, it was also a hard one. Basically you just had to open one of their tweets where they announced the video, or the last updated one from 23 November, in the likes you would find an account BtcOwner, which had no posts, just one like, a raccoon avatar and a code in bio: HRPD6z5zh
6. hHthnJEkQPKw
The last part was in the KeyBox which you could ask from someone, or find in the js code, and it was scrambled, the right order was: hHthnJEkQPKw
The hardest parts were the Twitter and the News one. I would never thought that somebody could hide something in likes because it’s hard to find when there’s a lot of likes
And the News one was simple, but I didn’t think somebody would use stego to hide data.
I was helped by a friend a little bit with the news one, I did not think about extracting data from the image, he secured that part for us.
The moment of opening the wallet
The feeling was awesome, I had a small bruteforce ready written in python, in case I had errors in rebuses as well to bruteforce the position of words. When we got the news part which was the last for us, I put it in my program. I couldn’t believe it when it was successful and gave me a valid private key. As it was my first puzzle (and the prize for me is a big number) I was literally shaking, and very frightened to do the transactions fearing that I could do a mistake 😂
But after I was very excited and happy, it’s a very nice feeling!
The fact that many people didn’t want to tell me nothing or to cooperate and some of them said they are almost done, was super stressful. It made me from the very beginning when I started to basically sit 10-12 hours every day trying to solve the puzzle, making every possible guess, reading every line of code in the site files.
I have a plan of making more money out of these, and just holding because I believe crypto will moon! But an AirPods and a few hundred dollars for gambling on BetFury are a must!
I’m very glad I discovered BetFury, not only because of its super nice design and being fully crypto based! But the team behind the project is just awesome, they are answering every question you have almost instantly, and are always ready to help the community. I believe that BetFury will become the best crypto gambling website, if not already. Extra thanks to Fury Fox for being able to answer all my questions and being very nice and attentive! I’m looking forward to more such events and puzzles from BetFury, it was really made good! Thank you for this opportunity!
The whole BetFury team is glad for the winner. You’re really great! Wish you to multiply your crypto and the best of luck in playing our games.
Thanks to everyone who took part in the searches for the key. Hope you had a lot of fun.
Would you like to see more such events? BetFury is ready to impress you. We’re already shooting the next part of the cartoon.
