Mini contest: comments Waves #117

From inside my home I collect these materials to place into a bin to be collected for recycling:
•used cardboard (if it is clean - for example if it doesn’t have food or liquid residue on it)
•hard plastic (once it’s clean otherwise I rinse or wash it)
•aluminium (once it’s as clean as practically possible without scrubbing as I hope the sorting machine can easily separate it with magnets - ideally it should probably be completely cleaned to prevent food residue getting into the recycler but I believe that to fully clean it would be very time consuming because of the many little indentations some cans have & also because handling an unclean sharp metallic item is risky especially considering it could have had meat, rusty areas or stale liquids inside). Often I will soak tins with spare soapy water but if left like this too long they become rusty and can rust the sink leaving marks on it

I am pleased that my country has these recycling facilities available so I can feel I am helping the planet by reducing potential waste and I also hope that by recycling it will cause the prices of commodities sold packaged in those materials to not become expensive in the future

Other than this I try to be friendly, polite & cheerful when talking with people hoping I am helping to cheer up their day and this helps me feel that I am spreading happiness and who knows perhaps that cheery atmosphere will bounce onwards person to person across the world and maybe sometime find it’s way back to me again C1
