Kristiansund v Haugesund - Eliteserien

Round 23 fixture of Eliteserien is set to kick off this Sunday, September 29 at rainy Kristiansund Stadion, where we will see a clash between Kristiansund and Haugesund.

Kristiansund finding their rhythm

Kristiansund failed to impress during summer months, when they won barely one match out of nine played, between August and May. That being said, they have drastically improved in recent fixtures, taking home 10 points out of the last four games (3-1-0). IN their last four fixtures, they have defeated Mjondalen 4:0, Ranhein 2:1 and Brann 1:0.

Unfortunately, their three-game winning streak came to a close last weekend, when Kristiansund drew at Åråsen Stadion 1:1. It's worth noting Kristiansund should have won that fixture, as they were far superior team on top of the fact they have missed a penalty in 24th minute. Seeing how Kristiansund improved towards the end of the season might not come off as a surprise to those following Eliteserien, seeing how KBK are known to finish the season strong, and it seems like the same will happen here.

The return of Flamur Kastrati from his injury and the addition of Amahl Pellegrino are both two big factors contributing to KBK's improvement in recent fixtures. And while the latter failed to impress during his time at Stromsgodset, Pellegrino seems to fit in perfectly at his new home, adding a lot of quality and creativity in Kristiansund's attack.

Haugesund look to avoid another stalemate

Haugesund travel to Kristiansund Stadion following four consecutive 0:0 draws in the league. Seeing how Haugesund failed to score a single goal in Eliteserien since the start of September, it's safe to say they have some worrying issues with scoring goals, which was is nothing new for this team. Ever since they lost Ibrahima Wadji due to drug abuse scandal, Haugesund look very weak in attack. They had to heavily rely on Ibrahima Kone and Martin Samuelsen as their two strikers, however, as the results show, they are not the optimal players for the job.

It's worth noting Haugesund crushed Mjondalen 3:1 this Wednesday in the NM Cup quarter-finals, however, we would not put too much weight on that result, seeing how Mjondale have not been enjoying a very successful season and are now fighting to find their way out of the relegation zone.

Verdict & Prediction

The biggest concern for Haugesund ahead of this fixture is the long list of players who will not travel to Kristiansund Stadion. However, out of all four, it's the absence of Mikkel Desler that will harm the visitors the most. He is arguably one of the best players in his position, but, due to yellow cards, Desler will not be able to represent his team this Sunday.

All in all, this one could be a close one, as it's hard to say either of the teams is much better than the other in terms of overall quality. That being said, KBK are playing much better football right now, and with the momentum on their side, KBK should be able to edge past the visitors.
