It's no news that Nigeria failed to make the final of the Africa cup of nations. I see no reason in writing a post about the loss to Algeria.

I predicted the loss and Senegal qualification into the final here

This is a different ball game. 2 teams that failed to make the final will face off in the third place game.

Two Eagles will battle it out and one Eagle must fly. Is it the Super Eagles or the Carthage Eagles?

Tunisia

They have come a long way and will want to go home with the Bronze medal. They play fine football and unlucky most times or they are just afraid to put the ball inside the net. They had so many clear chances to score against the Teranga Lions of Senegal. You would feel the match is fixed considering the way they lose those chances. They have not been convincing atall in this tournament and they got lucky with the knockout draw.

They faced a poor Ghanaian side and then beat surprise of the tournament Madagascar. That's all. There true ability showed against Senegal. Inability to put chances away even when given a penalty. They beat Madagascar by 3 goals to nothing. Well, Madagascar failed to threaten them even with counter attacks. That afforded them the opportunity to go on and get the goals despite missing some chances.

Khazri is the top guy in the team and his quality is shown with the way he plays. Tunisia will be hoping he have a good game which will give them the chance of winning the third place.

Nigeria

Many Nigerians still can't get over the loss to Algeria. Last second free kick by Riyad Mahrez consigned them to defeat. Well, the truth is the better team won. I was sad Algeria left it so late. They should have wrapped up the game since the first half.

Now, the Super Eagles are in for third place. They have won the third place 7 times which is more than any other team. Rohr will be hoping to win the atleast the Bronze medal. The Nigeria team is one solid team but have been leaky ever since they got exposed by Madagascar. They have conceded ever since then.

Rohr may want to rotate a little and play the players that have not featured in this tournament. He will still field a strong team despite the rotation.

The Super Eagles have the chance to right their wrongs and give the Naija people a smile on their face.

Prediction

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be the third placed team in the 2019 Afcon taking place in Egypt. I don't see Tunisia troubling them. This match will be like the South Africa Vs Nigeria match. Tunisia may not score a goal and the Super Eagles should get 2 goals.

Well, anything can happen considering the number of school boy errors made by the Nigeria defenders. Uzoho may be given the task of manning the post and will bring calm in the defense.
