"Join weekly to speak with founding community members of the BitShares Enterprise Dex about history and current events in Cryptocurrency and earn some free BitShares Tokens!" ~@officialfuzzy

The Format of these Hangouts:

This will go up every Thursday the day before the BitShares Hangout. BitShares community members who post subjects to cover and bring topics of discussion are asked to do so in response to this post first. Worker Proposals are a Chief Focus in these hangouts, but other topics and projects are welcome to join. @officialfuzzy can finally pay people who have supported this powerful cryptocurrency for the past 4 years since its birth and evolution. So reply below with valuable topics, updates, info we should cover and earn upvotes from in this thread and earn a special bonus if yours are chosen!

How much time will we have?

Hangouts will be at least 45 minutes long, but depending on attendance and projects/topics to be covered may last up to 1 hour. Given this, we will try to stay with 4-5 core topics and will fit in others where possible.

What will we earn for contributing?

Those who attend will each earn from a pool of bitshares that will be purchased with earnings from this post. They will then be given directly to you via our new guestbook that we are testing.
Fuzzy will be giving whaleshares to community founders who attend this weekly hangout to give their own unique perspectives and expert commentary. He will also be giving them to people who give topics and information we choose to use in our hangout!

So make sure you get a BitShares Wallet!

And let's not forget...you get SP through upvoting quality information and content worth sharing with the top minds in crypto across the graphene ecosystem!

Is any topic off Limits?

Yes. We reserve the right to learn from the newest trickster trolling steemit consistently searching for way to insert chaos into the equation and devise future strategies for negating these. Naturally if these efforts become ham-fisted attempts at shutting down free speech in honest conversations, the audience will hold us accountable.
But with that said....pretty much anything can be covered--even up to and including current events. However, I personally will only be voting up stories that touch the blockchain in some way shape or form and will be asking the community to downvote absolute Rubbish! ;)

please ask witnesses in call (I won't make it)

  • how are you avoiding dangerous feed errors in case of bitcoin fork?
  • are there plans to hold bitBTC prior to 1st of august?
  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Relevant BSIP in case of bitBTC global settlement:

A good question is: What fork will bitBTC reference after the split?

Preferably, we shouldn't reference the 'UASF' fork.

A good question is: What fork will bitBTC reference after the split?

I'd prefer UASF though. But it doesn't matter that much, since bitBTC is just a minor side product in our company... we just need to avoid negative news, eventually affecting all smartcoins, because we did not react in time

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

I prefer the big-block approach as originally intended by Satoshi; off-chain solutions are a neat idea on top of the Bitcoin blockchain, but strangling the core scaling mechanism (increasing block size) to push everyone onto blockstream's off-chain scaling solution is a terrible idea.

UASF by definition is a sybill attack, they're even proposing changing POW mechanisms which is really a scorched earth policy for BTC!

On the upside, we may experience the 'flippening' where BTC loses its #1 place, if this happens who knows what will happen in the crypto markets?! Exciting times!

I will be giving an update on my campaign as a proxy as well as the following worker campaigns:

  1. Update on User Interface for Easily Submitting Preliminary Worker Proposals.
1a) The Plan is that if we can create enough traction to continue, that we choose a random week out of every month for 4 months to retrieve data on the difference between workers incoming during and after these advertising campaigns.
  2. CoinMarketcap Advertisement in the top banner to pay for a "the blockchain is hiring" = 6-7k for a week.

On a similar topic of UI & worker proposals, here's the latest BTS-UI compiled code:

Unfortunately though, there hasn't been a core nor UI release which has included this change yet, additionally the Bitshares.org downloads page is displaying links to old releases.

CoinMarketcap Advertisement in the top banner to pay for a "the blockchain is hiring" = 6-7k for a week.

Sounds great to me, you've got my vote when you create the worker proposal! :)

I'd like to give a quick shout out to a couple of the recent BSIPs that I have written up:

I've been using #Whaleshares and #Beyondbits to upvote these BSIPs so that I've been able to focus on writing them more or less full time :D

Best regards,
@cm-steem

Wasn't there an idea to setup up some bounty for ideas people want to see implemented? I'm currently learning the bitshares wallet codebase by trying to fix up the invoice UI, but after that I'm going to be looking for ideas people want implemented. I've not yet accrued enough BTS to submit a worker but having a list of things I could work on to show the community what I can offer would be great.

Wasn't there an idea to setup up some bounty for ideas people want to see implemented?

There was the suggestion that by proposing a bounty, we can advertise the need for developers to complete a task for the Bitshares network, rather than waiting for a dev to take notice and gather the confidence to create a worker proposal, however there's not a bounty mechanism within the client.

Fuzzy is talking about a similar topic this week.

The Bitshares-UI has integrated the ability to create workers via the gui, but the latest client release isn't new enough to include this change..

Hey @officialfuzzy!

Unless you've changed day of the week I guess your supposed to mean 2017-07-07 😎

Looking forward to yet another "blow-my-mind crypto hangout" as always.

Sadly having to wait to the Raw recording getting published since work keeps me busy st the time of this, DAMN YOU WORK 😭

LOL...i specifically remember looking at the date now that u say that...and putting in todays. Thnx mate ;)

It's what I do, we are here to back each others in any tiny way we can 😉

Good luck mate!

informative and spectacular :)

Thanks for sharing this important info

Reviving Black-Swanned Assets

I second what @cm-steem has brought up regarding reviving black-swanned assets. In my opinion, this item should have medium to high priority both to revive past assets that have been affected (Ruble, Gridcoin, etc.), and to be ready to handle any future black swans that might occur. Imagine the bad impression on BitShares if a higher visibility asset gets black-swanned and cannot be revived quickly.

Issue on GitHub
BSIP-0017 : Revive BitAssets after global settlement
BSIP-0018 : Revive BitAsset through buying Settlement Pool

Core Maintenance Worker voted in!

@oxarbitrage 's maintenance worker for BitShares core was voted in! Work to formally begin next week.

@officialfuzzy you are the greatest
I will have to get my wallet and make some time for it

What do you mean by "worker proposals" as a topic?

Thanks again for putting these on - wasn't able to make last week's hangout but hoping to hop in tomorrow. Best!

http://cryptofresh.com/workers

There is a worker proposal system within the Bitshares client that enables you to propose being paid to develop something for the Bitshares network.

I see that you love the Bitshares a lot. It is true that it is a revolutionary concept. I will follow you to stay informed.

Oh yes it is true. :)
Been true for quite some time. Crypto people are only now catching up!

How about talking about the fluctuation of steem price recently? After HF19 the price changed so much, recently steem / sbd nearly reached 2! And now it drops back to 1.4. I really have a hard time in determining when to convert to steem to power up! Any advice on this? And why it is fluctuating so significantly?

Steem isn't related to Bitshares though..

Nope. They are but this hangout is for bitshares..
We have beyondbitcoin hangouts though!

errm, i keep seeing the hangout and never know how to participate @officialfuzzy, and tip?...is is a 24/7 thing? cos of the Time difference btw Africa and rest of the World

Nice work followed And upvoted

Thank you for the interesting post!

will take part in the discussion and call upon everyone to give help to the cause, we need to be more active community that makes and takes weighted decisions.

First time meet the live lol

Congratulations @officialfuzzy!
Your post was mentioned in my hit parade in the following category:

  • Pending payout - Ranked 8 with $ 538,89

I have setup mumble and will join the call.
With block chain technology getting mainstream attention, one thing that is needed is vast pool of developers. how to address this? Myself is looking to join some projects to contribute

There's a worker proposal system within Bitshares where developers can request funding for Bitshares related projects/development. Writing up BSIPs then seeking developers to complete said BSIPs is the best route for recruiting devs for a specific task, IMO.

I joined the call but seems late, where is the timing mentioned?anyway I am online and now and will be in chat whole day.is there a link or repository where I can find bitshare related project? I guess bitshares/steem are based on graphine . Any pointer appreciated much

Thank you. I did join the conversation and it is good

Your post is very interesting to follow ....
I am new person, please help my vote ...?

please anyone here who will like to share advice and opinion on sex education? there is a move we plan to make and we will appreciate advice, opinion and instructions. please feel free to share your view on this

thank you

@officialfuzzy - Can we have a topic covered on the Cryptocurrency Market cap being affected due to the expected market crash, if at all it ever happens. And kindly advise on the implication it might have on the various Cryptocurrencies. All this assuming that there would be a market crash. .

This topic wud be great for a discussion on hangout since it may eliminate the fears vested with new comers here.

My 2 cents for the discussion tomorrow. Hopefully I make sense.

Suggested Read:

Riding Solo on the world's highest motorable road - Khardungla Adventure Experience

what do you mean the expected market crash? people have expected market crashes in crypto forever. bitshares has experienced them and came out clean :)

I think he may be talking about the upcoming Bitcoin split in August? If not, I have no idea what he's talking about.

@officialfuzzy - With global market running all time high, experts have predicted a global market meltdown. We know such predictions keep coming, but I want to know if we can actually discuss the effect of such meltdown on cryptocurrencies IF it ever happens... Or do you say cryptos r totally immune to any such market fall

Im personallu thinking crypto is MEANT to be the steem valve for the economic reset. Get ready (imo) to be rich if u hold good, scalable, self governing cryptos ;)

I think that FIAT markets are more likely to collapse than crypto markets.

We can still say more likely does not collapse, however if it collapses do u think establishes ones like BTC can get back up soon or the newbies... I am also excited any Trutheum.... everythign exciting happening

Dompet nice you

Was this the one where you discussed if there is a time constraint on witness votes?

Could you check if you voted on my post. I sent whaleshares but nothing happened.

Hello I tried using the whaleshares again and it didn't work? Did I do something wrong?

Interested in BitShares DEX?

If you're interested in what BitShares is, I recently posted on this topic in Why You Should Go Decentralized All In; A Quick Guide to BitShares DEX

We go trough the benefits of a DEX compared to a central exchange.

Vote @sc-steemit for Steemit Witness.

Are you joining to talk about this?

I'm unable to attend live sadly. It's not my best available hour of the day 😶

Would love to speak about the DEX at some point soon when I go on holiday from work and might be able to attend live.

OK!! :D

Thanks @officialfuzzy for sharing these hangout details, always informative.

Thanks for Sharing @officialfuzzy I do look forward to these podcasts, especially the motivation intro.

Lets see what topics we have for this week. Probably we should be talking about the new CEO of Bitshares!!!

New CEO of Bitshares? There's not a CEO of Bitshares AFAIK..

Agreed. Cm i am not sure what tbey are talking about.

I was talking about Mr.Herring. Hasn't he been fired? I got this news from this post:
https://steemit.com/bitshares-munich/@onceuponatime/so-what-s-been-going-on-in-bitshares-munich-part-3

very nice post! keep it up

I have been looking for how to get update on bitshare here I catch one on sternly I'm following to get more of this. Good one @beyondbitcoin

nice post @officialfuzzy

Looking forward to joining the call tomorrow :)

I've been here only 4 or 5 days so forgive me if this is an old question.
There is a sophisticated reward system for participation here, but is there any thought of adding referral rewards as well?
I realize there are pitfalls with respect to the community and the rate of growth etc.
And I'm not getting greedy I swear, just curious if you've ruled that out from a business strategy standpoint. Thanks

i have looked at it and people just dont seem to want to refer people to do workers and proposals. so instead i reward the people who join as guest speakers with special interest in worker proposals and building in bitshares and graphene ecosystem. this way they can decide how to spend it best for their purposes ;)

Excellent. Thanks very much.

There's a lot to dig into!

do i join then tag all post whaleshares?
