The Mystery of Candle Magick.

in beyondtheveil •  7 years ago  (edited)

The humble candle has served us for hundreds of years, one point it was the most important thing as a light bringer during the dark hours of each day, long before the time of electricity.

Even now, many people and establishments rely on candles more, to create an ambient setting. Imagine when sitting for a meal in a restaurant, with the lights dimmed, and eating by the flickering candle light. What feelings come to your mind when thinking about this, peace, tranquility, happiness?

Do these feelings come just from the ambient setting? or is it something more? Today we look at candle magick.

What is candle Magick?

Candle Magick is often performed in wiccan and pagan rituals, predominately they are used in spell casting. But its not just a case of lighting a candle and making a wish. Not at all, many different factors come into it. Such as the colour of the candle (we are going to look at some of these.) The size of the candle, other materials that might be used in spell casting, when doing candle magick.

The Yellow Candle.

Linked to the Fire Element, Star Sign Cancer and planet of Mercury

Used in Spells and Rituals, to help improve memory ability, expanding the mind and imagination. Commonly anointed in spell work with Ylang Ylang for the gift of communication and eloquence. Or to anoint with Ginger for improved memory capacity.

Such spells maybe cast for an upcoming test or examination, but from a healing perspective the candle is related to the third Chakra in the abdomen, and is used to help in healing for things such as skin conditions and to help women suffering during menstruation.

Linked to the Air Element, Star sign Taurus and the planet of Mercury

Used in Spells and Rituals for career and personal success and interestingly for legal matters. Anointed with orange and lime oils to grant more energy, or anoint with Myrrh for business and career success during spell work.

Such spells maybe cast for promotion use or success in starting a new business venture. This candle is related to the 2nd Chakra and in healing is used for lung disease, asthma, fatigue and arthritic pain.

The Red Candle.

Linked to the Fire Element, Star Sign Aries and the planet of Mars

Used commonly in spell work for love and lust attraction. This candle can be used in many ways in spell work not just for love and lust but for energy work also.
Anointing with Cinnamon in spell work for passion and lust, rose oil for love and beauty.

Such spells will be cast to call a lover or to increase sexual appetite. This is linked to the 1st chakra. In healing used to treat depression and disorders of the reproductive system.

The Blue Candle.

Linked to the Water Element, Star sign Aquarius and planet Uranus.

This candle is used in spell work for such things as wisdom, truth and insight, it can be used to help diffuse awkward situations, to bring peace in the household also. I do like to light blue candles in winter time especially.

Anointing blue candles with Lavender Oil can promote harmony and friendship, and with rosemary oil for inspiration. This is linked to the 5th chakra It may be used in healing for high blood pressure, Stress and anxiety related issues also.

Candle Magick is linked to other parts of divination.

So you see that Candle Magic, is also present for astronomy and meditation also, alongside the elements. Each candle and candle style depending on the spell will be different, for different purposes.

If you are looking for a fast result for instance, you would not want to use a pillar candle in your spell, because the burn time would simply be too long. However if you are not into candle magic, I highly recommend just having them in anyway.

Personally my favourite candles are the old yankee candles, which every time I get a chance to buy them I do, my absolute favourite I recommend in the pumpkin spiced candles, I love getting these in the autumn, the aroma and light they give off is just magick in itself.

I hope you enjoyed this small but informative post on the use of candle magick. Whilst I have not put a spell up for you to create I attach some references below for you to investigate further.

Great post! My favorite candle for spell work is black. I love the protection from it.

Very nice B.G. You did good, really good with this post. I love candles and their use, the most common one I use is the white one, sometimes green, but usually the white one. Thank you for sharing this 💚

I love candles. I've been using them for my meditation work ever since I was a kid. They're powerful.

Also, you got an extra upvote from me via @wix using @minnowbooster. I talked about it in my latest post. Hope you're well.

One of the reasons I look forward to winter -- or at least cool weather is because I love to burn scented candles, too. That pumpkin spice recommendation from Yankee Candles sounds like one I need to try! My three top horoscope factors ... Sun Sign, Moon Sign and Ascendant are all in Fire element. I'm a natural-born pyromaniac! I really enjoyed your post.
