Jeff Bezos is expanding his real estate dominion with the acquisition of a third opulent mansion situated on the esteemed Indian Creek island in South Florida. The visionary mind behind Amazon.com Inc. has reached an agreement to procure a lavish six-bedroom abode within the Miami-area enclave for approximately US$90 million in a discreet off-market transaction, as disclosed by insiders familiar with the affair. It is reported that Bezos intends to take up residence in this newly acquired estate while overseeing the demolition of the other properties he has purchased on the island, as relayed by an anonymous source.
A spokesperson representing Bezos has opted not to provide any commentary on the matter. Records of property transactions indicate that the mansion was last transferred in ownership back in 1998, fetching a mere $2.5 million at the time of sale.
Bezos, holding the title of the world’s second-wealthiest individual with a staggering net worth of $203.7 billion according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, announced his relocation from the Seattle region to Miami in November. He made headlines with the acquisition of two lavish residences in Indian Creek, a man-made barrier island renowned for its opulence, often referred to as the "Billionaire Bunker." Among the affluent denizens of this exclusive enclave are notable figures such as Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, Tom Brady, and Carl Icahn.
Since February, Bezos has liquidated Amazon shares amounting to approximately $8.5 billion, marking his first divestment from the company's stock since 2021. The 60-year-old magnate has yet to divulge his intentions for the proceeds from these transactions.
Bezos' extensive real estate portfolio encompasses properties in Washington, a sprawling estate in Maui, and a palatial mansion in Beverly Hills which he acquired for a hefty sum of $165 million in 2020.
In his most recent venture in Florida, the mansion located at 28 Indian Creek Island Road is listed under the ownership of former banker Javier Holtz.
