Text: 1 Samuel 17:32 - 37

32 And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:
35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.
36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

Power is often defined as the ability to do, act, or accomplish a task. Power is desirable by all. The more powerful a man is, the faster he can achieve within a short period of time.
In the secular world, power is gotten through various means.

• In monarchy, power is often acquired by inheritance
• In education and in career, power is gotten by experience or educational qualification.
• In politics, power is gotten by contest, through votes.
• In the family, the power to train up the children is in the parents.
• Spiritually however, power is conferred upon:

Samuel anointed Saul King over Israel(1 Samuel 10:1)
Samuel also anointed David as king over Israel (1 Samuel 16:13)
God conferred power upon Jesus (Matthew 3:16 - 17)
Jesus also conferred power upon His disciples, an extension of which we are, as believers (Luke 10:19)

Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (KJV)

That is the commission we have received in this dispensation to go into the world and do exploits, because we are believers, and we know who we serve. (Daniel 11:32b). However, there are tools with which this power can be used to function.

Tools for Divine Empowerment

Thanksgiving (Acts 16:25)

In Mark 8:6, Jesus simply gave thanks, and broke the bread and alas! It was a blast!

Mark 8:6 And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people. (KJV)

Holiness

Jesus declared in Mark 2:22 that no man puts new wine into an old wineskin, but into a new one. Likewise, in Matthew 15:26, Jesus declared to a woman that the food of the child cannot be given to dogs. This could mean that the power that belongs to children of God cannot be given to sinners. This is a pointer that holiness is what guarantees our access to divine empowerment.

The Knowledge of God's Word and Prayer

The Word of God is so potent that it can birth wonders and it can bring impossibility to be possible. Prayer is also strengthened by a sound knowledge of His word. (Hebrews 4:12; James 5:16).

Faith

This is basis of our service to God. Everything we do is based on faith. We are saved by faith, we offer our service to God by faith, we receive God's gift and His calling by faith, and it is still this faith that gives us access to power and gives us the ability to dispense this power according to measure of His Spirit upon us.

The Presence of The Holy Spirit

The infilling of the Holy Spirit is the anointing we need to do exploits in this world. As the bible says, by His power, we are able to do His will.

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: (KJV)

We have been commissioned to do exploits in this world. We must therefore go in this might and shine God's glorious light into the world and and win the world to His glory. Amen
