Paul is explaining to us that the goal of the spiritual life is to do everything for the glory of God: "Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God", 1 Corinthians 10:31.
But, what is glory? The glory is a spiritual gift, the glory is the perfect fame, the fame of God. In a few words Paul tells us that we must act for the glory. This is very important because there are two kinds of people, those who act for money and those who act for ideas; the glory is an idea.
There is a very clear teaching in the bible of what this means: "There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends", John 15:13. Jesus tells us that life is lost for a greater good: glory. This is not a simple religious question, this is seen in practice in the case of lovers, when the lover loses his life for the loved one. Are there no parents who lose their lives for their children?; Or when the loss of your loved one is so terrible that you do not hesitate to sacrifice your own?. The small acts of heroism are born from the search for this supreme good, the glory.

In history there are notable cases of people fighting for glory: Joan of Arc. Joan of Arc is not just a myth, it is the example of devotion that all French must follow. The spiritual warrior fights for glory: "Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spririt, which is the Word of God." Ephesians 6:13-17.
There is no more excellent good than fighting for glory, christianly speaking. Paul with this text is calling us to be spiritual soldiers, to fight the good fight of the faith and conquer the fullness of spiritual goods.
