There are many books dedicated to the study of how to achieve success in life, from coaching books to self-help books; but the truth is that the best book to teach about this subject is the Bible. And the Sacred Scriptures, with its numerous examples from the life of Cain and Abel to the preaching of the gospel after the resurrection of Jesus, constantly illuminates the reason of men. And one story in the Bible about the meaning of true success, is the life of King Hezekiah, ruler of Judah.
And the Second Book of Kings begins by saying something very simple about Hezekiah's actions: "He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father David had done" 2 Kings 18:3. In other words, Hezekiah was a person with common sense, he did what had to be done, and not for personal gain but because it was the correct thing to do. The basis of success, explains the Bible, is the righteous life: "Do to no one what you yourself hate" Tobit 4:15. The righteous life is the progressive, assertive, beautiful, and benevolent life. This is the life that pleases God and fits with the ethical order of the universe, righteousness interacts correctly with the law of sowing and reaping. As Hezekiah, if any other man wants a full and blessed life, this is the only possible path, because there is only one way to do things correctly and many ways to fail.
And about Hezekiah the Bible tells us something else, he took care of his heart, he put his trust where he had to put it, and he was also faithful: "He trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel, so that there was none like him among all the kings of Judah after him, nor among those who were before him. For he held fast to the LORD. He did not depart from following him, but kept the commandments that the LORD commanded Moses" 2 Kings 18:5-6.
And the Holy Scriptures add what all this led to King Hezekiah: "And the LORD was with him; wherever he went out, he prospered" 2 Kings 18,7. Is there anyone who does not want to be prospered by the universe and God like Hezekiah? Hezekiah made the science of wisdom that spiritual treasure that was found, beyond any worldly philosophy there is no other recipe, everything else is deception, lie, and teaching of the error (heresy).
