A CHRISTIAN BUGOUT BAG CHECKLIST

In these endtimes, it is important to be prepared. What will happen when the economy tanks? What will I need when the governments unite and turn against Christians? How can I prepare myself, and prepare others, to see through the multitude of delusions that will play out upon this sin sick world? These are just some of the questions that may be of concern to you.

So what should we purchase for our bugout bag to be totally prepared? God gives us a very short list:

1. Gold
2. Clothing that is pure white
3. Eye salve

What a strange list. I can understand buying gold for when currency fails. I can also understand buying clothing that will be durable. But why does it have to be white? And what's up with the eye salve? Furthermore, who do we purchase this equipment from?

Revelation 3:18 KJV
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Fortunately, you can pick up these items from God's storehouse; from which every good and perfect gift is found.

James 1:17 KJV
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

These items are obviously not physical items but spiritual; however, if we have these items, we need not fret over any physical needs.

Matthew 6:31-34 KJV
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? [32] (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. [33] But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. [34] Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

The gold refers to our integrity with God. In the Old Testament account of Job, even in the midst of what seemed to be total loss, Job never faltered from his faith. He could have lashed out, blaming God for his misfortune. But his relationship was not based on, "what's in it for me." As he said, "the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." (Job 1:21)

Job 23:10-12 KJV
But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. [11] My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. [12] Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food .

Having integrity with God is about our heart relationship with him. Behind all of the outward displays of religious piety and goodness, where does Christ sit in your heart? Are you subject to him in all things? Is he really both your LORD and Savior?

Proverbs 17:3 KJV
The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the Lord trieth the hearts.

White raiment? That's an easy one. It has to do with holiness.

James 1:27 KJV
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

If you are anything like me, you fail. And if you are just like me, it feels like you flounder and fall flat on your face more than not, at times. Thankfully, we both have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins. Our heart's desire should be to be completely sinless; although, it may seem to be a matter of just sinning less. Nevertheless, it takes a constant effort to keep our garments from being tarnished by this world.

Isaiah 1:16-18 KJV
Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; [17] Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. [18] Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord : though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

The eye salve is the last product on our shopping list. The problem with this one is that so many Christians today don't believe they need it. One would never buy eye salve who is confident that they can see 20/20.

John 9:39-41 KJV
And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. [40] And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also? [41] Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

Also, eye salve just doesn't fit in God's grocery bag if there is pride in there as well. Humility and meekness go a long way towards making room for more eye salve. I've never run into so many Christians that see themselves as the authority on truth today. So much so that they thumb their noses at others. In God's economy, the best way to improve vision is to acknowledge how blind we really are.

Matthew 7:1-5 KJV
Judge not, that ye be not judged. [2] For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. [3] And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? [4] Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? [5] Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
