Ants are really fascinating creatures! If we read Proverbs 6:6, it reads,
"Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be
wise."
A sluggard, you know, is a person who doesn't like to read or do any work, but likes sleeping or being idle all-day. Have you ever been acquainted with one?
The Bible tells the sluggard to "consider her ways," meaning, see what she does. Have you ever watched busy ants while they're at work? Kids usually get their dose of entertainment (even ant-bites) on a summer day! In some areas, you might see mini ant-hills all around. Some hills are much larger than the others.
This is how busy these little creatures are! Just notice their teamwork! You will see little fellows helping each other find and carry food, creeping along as fast as they can go, with chunks perhaps heavier that all of their weight combined. We don't see them stop to rest, but they seem to come back and forth working. One may watch them all-day everyday and never really see them idle at all.
We can easily understand why it's good Biblical advice for a sluggard to go and look at the little ants: when he sees them really busy, he may be ashamed of himself for not being productive, and learn to be industrious or diligent in his every undertaking.
Having looked at them for a little while, I can tell the ants seem to be happy and I think it is because they can fulfill their God-given duty. Nobody in this world was created for nothing or to do nothing: even children can be taught responsibilities at an early age.
Inside of an anthill, it could be even busier but it is not easy to see it without destroying all their work. There is a kind of tropical ant that builds hills as tall as people! They are made of a kind of clay; and have many cells or rooms, winding passages and even ventilation holes leading from one level to another. All this is done, as the Bible says,
without "guide, overseer or ruler;"
(Proverbs 6:7) that is, they need no one to direct each one of them how to do it.
God gave them skills and instincts just like honey-bees in building their often admired beautiful hives. All God's works are, indeed, wonderful.
All photos (except the anthill illustration) are my original work.

They are industrious as well as good architects. They know what they want and they will surely get it! :D They are also a good example of working together and there is perfect cooperation that can be observed.
