What is Lovejuice?

Hey all, @aggroed coming back in momentarily to give you a head's up about @lovejuice and some of what's in store.

What is @lovejuice

Lovejuice started back around the time that PALnet was just starting to get going. It's original intention was to upvote some posts that had been opinion flagged and do my best to support them, but as it turns out the flaggers were substantially larger than the lovejuice account or aggroed account and so that was basically an impossible proposition because it was a few cent dent in a ten dollar hole.

what's a bid bot>

Bid Bots are run a program that make it so if you send a transfer to the account with a memo of the post url the bot will then turn around and upvote your post with a proportional amount of strength relative to how much money you sent. if you're responsible for 100% of the money in that voting window you'll get 100% of the vote. If you're responsible for 1/2 of the money sent you'll get half of the vote. In this case you can send a transfer note to @lovejuice. The minimum bid is 0.1sbd. The payout fluctuates between $1.0-$2 in rewards for a full vote. So, unless you're dying just to increase your post rewards for some reason don't spend more than 1sbd on a bid here (remember this baby is made for minnows).

The guy that made this program is @inertia and he introduced Dr. Otto. Otto is the program that runs most of the bid bots out there based on the programming language called radiator. It interacts with the block chain and in this case allows a bid bot. Bid bots didn't used to work before the latest hardfork. There was an exponential rewards curve, which meant that you had to have a lot of people agree that a post was valuable to transfer any rewards to it. Under that rewards scheme it wasn't profitable to spend any money buying a bid because it was likely no one else would vote on it, but after HF19 and linear rewards this sort of stuff started working.

Starting up lovejuice

So, with some help from @reggaemuffin I was able to spin up a virtual private server, get Dr. Otto on it, and start operating a bid bot. It's complete original intention was to help minnows. I wanted (and still do) want to have a low cost bot that allows minnows a chance to make small bids and actually earn more rewards. There are other larger bots and those allow a dolphin to get whale votes, but that can be expensive and sometimes you can lose a lot of money. So, I wanted a really low stakes version of that. To help I've increased the frequency of voting on the bot.

Where as most bots operate on the 10 votes per day schedule lovejuice has more. It's designed to limit competition so that with any given vote you have less people you're competing against for the same voting power. Lovejuice will make roughly 14 votes per day so the interval is shorter and the competition is less.

Pay to post instead of just pay to spray

Recently I added a feature that if you wrote an erotic story on here I'd pay you 5sbd. Lovejuice has a clearly sexual name, but I like the idea of opening this up to more people. If the bot ever starts making $10+ in rewards I'll start upping the amount of money I'll pay, but currently it's a net loss to help promote new authors. A new author likely has less than 300 followers. Lovejuice has 1100 (not bad for a bid bot for minnows). So, now you can work with @isaria who is helping to manage this process to write a story, poem, or analysis and put that baby on lovejuice and we'll get you a flat rate of 5sbd and exposure to a new audience.

If you're making $10 or more on a post this is probably a bad idea for you or it's a supplment to the income you currently make. If you're mostly impoverished or don't have the ability to make $5sbd on a post let alone in a day then this is actually a pretty sweet opportunity. Anyway, some people think it should be more, which is fine, I'd like it to be more, but lovejuice needs more votes and stronger votes before that's possible. So, if you like the idea then use the service to upvote your posts because it's paying for minnows to get stories out that will net them some followers and sbd. if you don't like the idea then go off being a grump in your own world and ignore the good I'm trying to do with this thing.

where she's going next

Over the coming weeks and months my goal is to steadily increase the amount of steem power on this bot. My next goal is 20k SP. I don't know when it will get on there, but I'll keep adding more slowly over time to help this grow and help your minnow posts get more rewards. I do take some of the cash out of here to pay for other useful services like servers, and programming, and art to make the Minnow Support Project even better.

I have another goal of making a completely public bidbod that anyone can delegate to and get paid from with benefits that support the Minnow Support Project, but more on that later.
