The rise and fall? maybe of the bidbot - Friday night debate.

What an ugly mug on that bot eh!

I keep seeing people have views on bidbots, and their dislike for them, now I am no expert on this, but I do know even some witnesses run them and I dare say others delegate sp to them. For the newer people like me, allow me to enlighten you with regards to the way it used to be on here, let's call it the "good ole days" just for giggles.
@freebornangel (getting a lot of free press off me lately 😁) informed me in this last week, that in the god (good ole days) a $10 post payout would give you 100 sp, pick yourself up off the floor and get back on that seat, yes you heard that correct. Now we know now that a $10 payout @ 50/50 (lord only knows who's idea it was to call it 50/50) pays anything from not a lot of sp, to even less sp at the current rate of what ever it is today.

Newbies like me.

Now for us newbies, the easiest way to get to our (mine anyway) target of 500 sp and above, using a bidbot is the fastest way possible, as I/we do not have the luxury of a time machine nor a large enough following to guarantee that we get upvotes on every post past 20 cents, unless the mysterious hr1 stops by, who is that mystery man anyway? anyone know..
Whilst on the subject of followers, they really are a curious bunch are they not? I mean you can have 100 or close to a 1000, & write about every topic in the world, and I swear 95% of them are dead from the neck down, as they will be buggered to vote :-) I have a conspiracy theory that steemit plants them on us, ask me to write about it and I will say I just did. #practicalthoughts. :-)

Rich getting richer poor getting poorer.

I have zero idea who let the dogs out as the song sang, or who let the bots in, I do know though they are here to stay for now, I also have no idea how to get rid of them, as I am not in charge on here, so this is my debate points, feel free to say anything you bloody well like.

  • Do you agree with bibots or not, why?
  • Do you think they should be banned or removed from the site?
  • How would it be possible to remove them?
  • Have you been abused by a bot, and how much did it take off you, when and why?
  • Any other thoughts you want to add on bots or steemit feel free.

I have ran several experiments using them, not using them, using them when prices of sbd and steem were rising and falling, the last experiment ended over a month ago, and I posted some results, this experiment with the price falling has shown 1 thing, the lower sbd and steem goes in price, the lower the upvote value goes in the bidbot, so they are encouraging people to pay more for less, I guess they need to eat then.

Not everyone using a bidbot is doing it for the reasons you perceive, no matter who you are, maybe ask people if you want the answer, unless you are a fully certified mind reader, then maybe train us all on "how" and while you are at it maybe lease us your time machine for a day or two.

Deliberators verdict = your dammed if you do and dammed if you don't, damn it!

Have a perfectly pleasant weekend, and make sure you have some fun with a capital F.

Images from the site that clearly states it does not need me to disclose it was pixabay who did it in the dining room with a knife (cluedo anyone?)

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.
If you enjoyed what you read here, create your account today and start earning FREE STEEM!
Sort Order:

I need to correct your math a little.
A post that gets a 20sbd payout gets 10sbd and 100sp when steem is at .10usd.
If steem is at 1usd then that same post gets 10sbd and 10sp.
At 10usd steem the post gets 10sbd and 1sp.
The higher the steem price the lower the payout in sp.

The reward pool was created to encourage ’good' content to be created.
Any rewards that are not received for creating good content is abuse, imo.

That said, if you are using bots to reward good content, that is ok by me.
If you are using bots to reward the good content of other authors, thats ok by me, too.
If you are using bots to increase your returns on self voting, that is abuse, imo.
Until you get to 1mv i got no problem with you using bots to increase your stake.
But, once you have the slider, if you are still using the bots to line your own pockets that is abuse, imo.

Now having said that, you, @deliberator, are notorious for your help of others. You are not lining your own pockets, but the pockets of others, however you want to do that is fine by me.
My problem is with those that abuse the pool with bot multiplied self votes that then cash out.
They are putting downward pressure on the price and taking money from me to do it.
Hiring the bots to rob everybody else is abuse.

Who allowed the bots in, how can they be taken back out?.

Its a combination of things, so,...stinc did it.
The n2 reward curve discouraged self voting.
Im unsure how it would affect bots, but they didnt exist before delegation and linear rewards.

Deliberators verdict = your dammed if you do and dammed if you don't, damn it!

So better do it then? :D

I'm really curious as to who hr1 is.

Some of the more senior lets say, or longer members on here may know, be buggered if I do though, have a superb weekend.

There is one other steemian who is like hr1 but I forgot the name lol!

Have a superb one as well. CheerS!

I hate bloody bidbots but fully see why you are using them to get over 500SP

All us old timers never had to do that, it's a newb thing!

Our votes were nearly worthless but we could vote as much as we wanted - 200 upvotes with a 40c total payout was pretty standard

You are so close at 482

It is so bloody close I can frigging smell it .
