The importance of constitutional limitations on the exercise of power.

Those who rightly objected to Abbott's ban on private mandates (vaccine and mask requirement) should now be objecting to Biden trying to enforce mandates on private organizations.

Condemning the one and praising the other implies throwing away principle in favor of the crude exercise of power as long as it gets you what you approve of. It is a perilous long term strategy.

This kind of power used today for good can be used tomorrow for evil. That is the whole point of living in a constitutional democracy. It indiscriminately limits the power to coerce. It is a characteristic of modern political thinking (across the spectrum, but, notably on the left) that there is very little respect for the importance of constitutional limitations on the exercise of power.
