The details of the personal life of the head of Microsoft and one of the richest people in the world, Bill Gates, have become public. It turned out that the real reason for Gates' departure from the board of directors in 2020 was not a desire to retire and focus on charity, as the company's press service tried to convince. The point is a banal affair with one of the Microsoft employees.
The board of directors learned about the relationship, which went far beyond the workers, from the most subordinate of Gates, who worked at Microsoft as an engineer. The woman sent an e-mail detailing her sexual relationship with her boss, which lasted more than one year. Microsoft's management initiated an investigation and hired an entire law firm to do so.
According to The Wall Street Journal, members of the board of directors have come to a decision that the billionaire should not remain the main person in Microsoft. After that, Gates, without waiting for the results of the investigation, voluntarily left the company, which he himself founded in 1975.
It soon became clear that the affair with a colleague was far from the only one. Gates has repeatedly shown interest in both Microsoft employees and employees of his charitable foundation, the Gates Foundation. This was revealed after studying e-mail, in letters Gates invited women to dinner and asked them to pretend that there was no offer if they were not interested in it. Quite mild formulations, but given Gates' leadership position, they sound dubious anyway.
And they are even more doubtful against the background of the fact that at the time of the correspondence, Bill was still officially married to Melinda Gates. At the moment, Melinda is already an ex-wife. Last month, the Gates couple said they had broken up amicably, and the divorce itself was a balanced and mutual decision after 27 years of marriage. In the light of the revealed circumstances, it can be assumed that Bill Gates' lovingness played an important role in this, but the billionaire's representatives reject all accusations.
