Kenyanthropus platyops as a descendant of Au. anamnesis population in Turkana, and the Laeotli footprints as A. anamnesis

Kenyanthropus platyops is a 3.5 to 3.2-million-year-old (Pliocene) hominin fossil discovered in Lake Turkana, Kenya in 1999 by Justus Erus, who was part of Meave Leakey's team (brown dot in the map below. )

The position of the fossil, and the timespan during which it lived, points to that it is a descendant of the Au. anamnesis population that lived by the Turkana basin around 4 million years ago. Those apes in turn originated from the south-western coastline of Danakil, and had migrated along the rift valley as they were the first species on Danakil that could swim (feet adapted for swimming, rudimentary control of breathing, etc) and the distance to the mainland (via the Ali-Sabieh Blocks) being shorter (Danakil was still close to the Ethiopian mainland around 4 million years ago, as seen by where the Ardipithecus ramidus fossils are found. )

The Laetoli footprints as originating from a descendant of Turkana basin Au. anamnesis

Based on the hypothesis of a Danakil origin for the chimpanzee-human-last-common-ancestor (CHLCA) split, and that the entire Homo lineage, and Paranthropus, etc are descendants from adaptations that occurred as a result of geographical isolation on Danakil, then the Laetoli footprints, dated at 3.7 Ma, would be possible to trace back to Danakil. The Australopithecus anamnesis fossils at lake Turkana in northern Kenya are dated to around 4 million years ago, and point to that there was a wave of southward migration from Danakil around that time. That same event would then probably be where the Laetoli footprints (south of lake Turkana) originate from, and the species which made the footprints would be descendants of the Au. anamnesis population at Turkana, possibly classified as the same species.
