Starling Murmuration - Attenborough Nature Reserve

in birdwatching •  7 years ago  (edited)

A starling murmuration is an incredible aerobatic display of thousands of birds convalescing all at the same.

Safety, warmth and communication are just some of the reasons we think they do this.

What we do know, however, is that it is breathtaking to behold when they do.

This murmuration was at the Attenborough Nature Reserve, in Nottinghamshire, just before sunset. The birds gathered over there roosting site (in this instance a reed bed), where they performed, before heading to their beds for the night.

Good 1st attempt try. Hopefully you can figure out the video problems.

Oh good, it's fixed!

I love a good murmuration! The one from the bush opposite the co-op in Belper is incredible, partly because it's in the town centre and you wouldn't expect such an amazing aerial display in an urban setting. When they go the bed they dive-bomb the bush at crazy speeds!
