Juang City, that is the name of Bireuen District, one of the districts in Aceh, Indonesia. A districts resulting from division from the district of North Aceh. Bireuen itself has been autonomous since 2000. No doubt, this title could make me wonder what's wrong with Bireuen. The availability of the internet and all kinds of sites in it, managed to uncover a little fact behind the reality that little hidden from my glasses so far.
Did you know, Bireuen was once the capital of the State? Although only one week, the district is famous for its banana chips has been a place of transit Bung Karno during his reign. Unfortunately, this fact is not recorded in the history of Indonesian independence. Try searching, which history books include the name Bireuen in it.
Well, take a look! At first glance, nothing so special about this building is it? It's just a simple architecture building. But who would have thought, behind the simplicity, stored so many struggles that should not be ignored just like that. Yes, this is the hall of Bireuen, which became the place of exile of then first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno.
The arrival of Bung Karno is not without reason. At that time, in 1948, the Netherlands launched its second aggression against the city dubbed the student city, Yogyakarta, which was the capital of Indonesia at the time. The government immediately changed hands. All government administration is controlled by the Dutch.
So the solution, President Sukarno exiled himself to Aceh, precisely in Bireuen. This place became an alternative choice, considering at that time, Bireuen still not occupied by Dutch colonialists. The Dakota plane, piloted by Teuku Iskandar, landed smoothly at Cot Gapu's civil airfield in June 1948.
The arrival of the group of the number 1 was greeted by the Aceh Military Governor, who was held by his power by Teungku Daud Beureueh, or familiarly called Abu Daud Beureueh. At night, still on the same day, at the airport this is held a grand rally. Sukarno with his trademark, giving a fiery speech, burning the fighting spirit of the Bireuen people booming in the field. A sense of pride encompasses the souls of the people of Bireuen because they can meet face to face and hear the presidential speech.
During the week the government of RI is concentrated in Bireuen. That said, Bireuen was once the third capital of Indonesia in a state of necessity. Unfortunately, this fact escaped the news and history of Indonesian independence.
