When I was pregnant I had an array of opinions about our choice to have a home birth.
Many people instantly get a concerned look, or just a freaked out look in general and then follow with, well that’s how you hope it’s gonna go, we’ll see, and are you sure it’s safe?
Does this look safe? Do I look relaxed? Can you see the power I feel by being in my own environment and able to consent to every single thing that is happening?
Moments after giving birth. That is the look of pure joy and love. My soulmate and life partner by my side, in the safety of our home, with people we trust and feel safe with.
I got to sit in the tub for at least 30 minutes holding my baby and letting the cord continue to pump blood. My beautiful placenta was purple and rich full of blood and nutrients, she remarked how healthy it looked. I love this picture of @amvanaken where he is just beaming with pride at being a dad. He is so in love and so comfortable to be able to hold his son right away, and to be right there next to me. He also cut his cord, which freaked us both out, and I was super proud of him💜
I absolutely loved my midwife, her name is Jessica Nipp with Hollistic Home Birth. She actually lives less than 5 minutes away from us. Her care has been very healing for me. I felt extremely safe and she always asked me before doing anything. It’s very empowering when someone asks you before even taking your blood pressure. It allows you to say yes! And choose what you want to do. She knew I had pretty traumatic birth experiences prior to this. She gave me the opportunity to have the birth experience I truly wanted. To birth in the water, naturally at home, feeling safe and trusting my body to do what it was created to do!
Jessica is also an herbalist and gifts you with different goodies she makes to help with pregnancy and post baby. She also made an herbal sitz bath that I used before I took this picture, it really helped with healing and was also very soothing to my body.
Hormones have never been easy for me and my previous birth I had experienced some pretty heavy depression after. I kept it to myself and it was pretty terrifying. I expressed that to my midwife and to Alex and one solution to prevent that is to ingest your placenta. It’s helpful for many things, and the basic premise is that it helps refortify and nourish your body after birth.
These are what the capsules look like. I highly recommend trying it out. It has been well worth it already. My body is recovering extremely quickly and when I have missed a dose of the placenta pills I notice a huge difference in how I feel.
I believe every woman should have the experience of birthing in a way that she feels empowered. I believe every woman should be treated with respect and her beautiful body treated as a vessel that was created to give birth, that naturally knows exactly what to do! I am so grateful to finally have a birth story where my body got to be honored! Many blessings to all of you who may be on your birth journey, it’s a magical thing 💜💜💙
I'm glad everything went great for your guys. This sounds like a way better alternative to how doctors are so quick to do a C-section and then cut the cord right away....etc.

Thanks @brianphotos! We are super grateful for our at home midwife experience. The drs in the hospital are always pushing c-sections and interventions. So glad we could have such a natural birth!!

The unfortunate thing is these days we almost have to look at doctors and dentist as a shady scammer trying to get over on us. It is sad but true. I'm not saying they are all bad but you have to pretty much think about how their incentives line up with yours. Often times it is quicker and enriching for them to just drill and fill your teeth or slice your belly open....etc Crazy times!
I'm so glad everything worked out great and now you have the next generation of Crypto Entrepreneur !

It really, really, REALLY is. We spent a long time thinking about how we wanted to go about this, and after researching the business/industry of giving birth, and that the USA has the highest infant mortality rate and also the highest amount of unnecessary C-sections, we were like yeahhhhhh natural way is the only way LOL... It went way better than her other 2 pregnancies! It was also very nice that we got to leave the cord intact, because you can’t just switch from absorbing oxygen in your blood to having to breathe it on your own 🤣 Gotta give them some time to make the switch. Thanks for everything Brian!

How fantastic that you were able to pull this off in this day and age.
So many are afraid of it, even when they've had prior testing to show everything is normal.
I am certainly impressed and happy for all three of you!
Congratulations and Best Wishes for all.
Now if you can just win the "other" Lotto!

Thanks so much K 😄
There was definitely some fear going into it but when we got there, it felt pretty good for everything to be going down in the comfort of our home!

Wow!! So this is the way Anjel came to this world? Since I got to know babies can be born this way I always felt it's the right way..altho I don't know anything about giving birth..but it feels somehow right...
What freaked u guys out about cutting the cord? I have sooo little knowledge about this that I somehow imagine blood pouring out of the cord in all directions..did u save placenta blood btw? I remember it's suuuuper super useful in the future. Great man and friend on ur side :) happy for u guys!

It was pretty crazy cutting the cord 😮 It was really thick and meaty and it just feels wrong holding a sharp thing to a baby... The midwife asked me if I wanted to cut it and I was like 😅 “oh yeah” lol... But yeah it was all natural and she’s eating her placenta in capsule form to get all the nutrients and hormones out of there while her pituitary gland gets started up again. Thanks so much @matkodurko!

The placenta is dried up and then put into capsules so the mother can eat them :D don’t worry, I thought it was very strange at first also. It’s dried out, so it’s not necessarily the blood she’s eating, it’s the tissue I think.
So basically during the pregnancy, the brain stops producing hormones in the mother, and instead, the placenta makes the hormones during the pregnancy. So once the baby and placenta come out, the mothers hormone levels start to crash lower and lower, and the placenta pills are there to help keep the hormone levels balanced so it’s not a huge shock to the system.

Yes, babies have been born at home for centuries, they started promoting hospital births in the 1900’s. There are many extra complications that you face during a hospital birth. Let alone the germ exposure alone!!
It was just scary being so close to his skin lol, but the dr assisted Alex and he did great. No blood from the cord :)
We saved the actual placenta and she dehydrated it and capsuled it for us. Was amazing!! Highly recommend. Thanks for the good vibes.

“It makes no difference whether the poet knows that his work is begotten, grows and matures with him, or whether he supposes that by taking thought he produces it out of the void. His opinion of the matter does not change the fact that his own work outgrows him as a child its mother.
The creative process has feminine quality, and the creative work arises from unconscious depths–we might say, from the realm of the mothers. Whenever the creative force predominates, human life is ruled and molded by the unconscious as against the active will, and the conscious ego is swept along on a subterranean current, being nothing more than a helpless observer of events.
The work in process becomes the poet’s fate and determines his psychic development. It is not Goethe who creates Faust, but Faust which creates Goethe…. The archetypal image of the wise man, the saviour or redeemer, lies buried and dormant in man’s unconscious since the dawn of culture; it is awakened whenever the times are out of joint and a human society is committed to a serious error.
When people go astray they feel the need of a guide or teacher or even of the physician. These primordial images are numerous, but do not appear in the dreams of individuals or in works of art until they are called into being by the waywardness of the general outlook.
When conscious life is characterized by one-sidedness and by a false attitude, then they are activated–one might say, ‘instinctively’–and come to light in the dreams of individuals and the visions of artists and seers, thus restoring the psychic equilibrium of the epoch.”
~Carl Jung, Modern Man in Search of a Soul

It's so great that you had a home birth. My wife is a mid-wife and our daughter was planned to come at home as well. Due to complications she came with a cesarian in the hospital after all. I am happy it worked for you. :)

congratulations on your beautiful home birth and thank you for sharing you lovely journey with us. I have had 2 home births and it is so important to spread the positive message of home birthing. Our bodies know exactly what to do, when they are allowed to that is.
I encapsulated my friends placenta for her, I am a doula and she really wanted me to do it for her. It is such potent medicine indeed.Enjoy this magical time with your family xxx
