This is a very interesting thought experiment. Bitcoin's code and functionality is transparent and completely open to anyone who cares to look and has the knowledge to understand it. I wish I understood it better. The fact that Microsoft seems to be behind ETH and also the fact ETH has built in inflation makes it not as feasible to me. That and Bill Gates is evil. The fact that a cabal of Chinese miners have control over the implementation of the bitcoin network makes me doubt its future as well. But the beauty of this market is it's sheer chaotic insanity, schizophrenia, and what have you. Soon enough, the blockchain equivalent of all the transactions in the world will be able to be stored on a grain of salt. The tech will not stop. The money printing might. But fuck it. The genie is out of the bottle. Adapt or become obsolete.
