This first batch of OP Codes are going to enable Etherium type Smart Contracts on the Bitcoin Cash Blockchain. There are a few different development teams working on their own node software and they all plan on having their software ready before the May fork. There is a graphic below and it is a list of the teams and I am sure I am missing some of the groups so I will just apologize now.
So my thinking is that what will happen is money will start moving out of ETH and into BCH as this news starts to propagate. It will be interesting to see what the price is going to do because there will be a bunch of speculators, a group of BTC hodlers will finally realize that Bitcoin Core has been sabotaging Bitcoin in an attempt to move everything on to second layer products that are neatly packaged with the Blockstream / Lighting. For a slight fee of course.
The ability to make smart contracts was removed by the Core Dev team a while back for "security" issues with the code. Vitalik from Etherium took the smart contract code that BTC Core deleted and made the currency Etherium. Vitalik practically begged the Core team to let him add and build the OP Codes within Bitcoin. I don't think Etherium would have ever become a currency if the Core team hadn't Rochambeau'd him.
These are the OP_Codes that will be added in May.
OP_MOD, OP_DIV, OP_CAT, OP_SPLIT, OP_AND, OP_OR, OP_XOR, OP_NUM2BIN, & OP_BIN2NUM
