Apple issued a policy prohibiting applications that mine the digital currency (cryptocurrency) in all devices besutannya. This policy is contained in the latest App Store usage guidelines released in the Worldwide Developer Conference last week. Nevertheless, the users of Apple's devices just realized this change on Monday (11/6).
Reported by The Verge, in March Apple remove Calendar 2 app in Mac App Store. This removal is because Calendar 2 begins to mine digital currency on the device as a payment so that consumers can enjoy premium features.
This removal is Apple's first step in combating the application of digital currency miners.
The reason, Apple previously did nothing about this mining. At that time, Calendar 2 developers said the removal of this app for violating App Store guidelines, ie the application should not continuously drain the battery, generate excessive heat, or put an unnecessary load on the device.
Apple now specifically creates a digital currency section of guides implemented on iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS apps. Apple makes five rules about digital currency.
First, Apple allows virtual wallet apps as long as the app is developed by those listed as an organization. Second, the only application of digital currency miners is applications that mine outside the device, a cloud-based example.
Third, applications can help consumers to pay, exchange, or receive digital currency in approved trades. However, the application must come from the trade itself.
Fourth, bitcoin trading applications or the security of digital currency trading should fill out forms from banks or financial institutions that are legal and lawful.
Fifth, digital currency apps can not bid for virtual coins for users to download other apps or get other users to download apps, or encourage social media activities.
This new rule changed the way digital apps play on the Apple platform drastically. This rule prohibits a third app to offer coins, or send and receive digital currencies. This is interesting because many applications are deleted because they have miners of the possibility that may be infiltrated by cyber criminals.
Although Apple applies the rules on all applications that are inside the App Store, Mac and Iphone. But, already jailbroken phones can still mine digital currency. Without a solid GPU, mine on Apple devices is certainly not efficient with the cost incurred.
