The land of the rising sun has begun to appear in the Asian horizon as a reference in projects and regulatory advances of blockchain and especially of Bitcoin. This significant growth in distributed accounting technology has been reinforced by the Japanese authorities' interest in legalizing the use of Bitcoin as a payment method throughout the country, a measure that will be applied this April 1st.
The Financial Services Agency of Japan, also known as the FSA, recently announced in a public notice the application of the law of modification of the money lending ordinances and of the banking law by ministerial decree suggested by the lawyers of Anderson Mori & Tomotsune on February 7.
The authority also announced that a public consultation was carried out on this change, which collected a total of 5,307 comments from 72 individuals and companies around the country, who gave their opinion and recommendations on this issue
HOUSES OF EXCHANGE ARE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS
In order to make the criptogoneda bitcoin a legal payment method in Japan, this technology must be subject to a set of regulations agreed by the FSA, which will be extended to exchange houses and any type of service that manages people's virtual money.
The regulations range from administrative and legal requirements for service lending by any business in Japan, to regulations for the prevention of funds transfers from illicit activities, such as customer identity (KYC) and anti-money laundering Money (AML).
These regulations have already begun to be applied by exchange houses in the country such as Coincheck and Zaif, which offered their customers a set of identification requirements that will be mandatory.
Unlike the measures of identification and prevention of laundering of money taken by the Chinese government recently that forced to the suspension of services most of the houses of change of the Asian giant, these regulations promoted by the Japanese government are not so rigorous and even Some exchange houses have already notified and contain it in their regulations, as happened with BitFlyer. Therefore, no major inconveniences are expected for this first of April.
