The Cambridge research, conducted in March 2017 by Garrick Hileman and Michael Rauch, showed that the number of active users of bitcoin wallets ranges from 2.9 to 5.8 million.
However, since then, in proportion to the price of bitcoin, the number of users of crypto currency has been actively growing. For example, Coinbase, the largest crypto exchange, and digital wallet platformr serve more than 13 million active users. At large regional bitcoin exchanges, such as Bitflyer in Japan and Bithumb in South Korea, there are also registered for almost one million users. If you add hot wallets or addresses to bitcoins on stock exchanges, the number of unique users of crypto currency exceeds 10 million.
And this number continues to grow. Every day there are more and more ICO projects that create demand for the BTC purchase. In addition, some of these projects, such projects can attract users who are not interested in crypto currency.
For example, KickCity - is an existing event platform that focuses on community building and social interactions. This simply means that users can invite their friends and when their friends buy tickets, they earn Tokens (Cryptocurrency), while the user who bought ticket gets a kind of cash back — motivation to buy more tickets on KickCity platform. KCY tokens can be used to buy tickets on the platform and can also be converted to FIAT.
KickCity subsequently creates employment by giving everyone the opportunity to earn. What is more, such marketing model will attract more people to crypto community. When a person doesn’t have any cryptocurrency, he/she is not interested. Once a user will be rewarded with cryptocurrency, he/she will be more involved and start showing interest to blockchain and crypto world.
