The Russian company Prime Shipping Foundation from Rostov-on-Don for the first time concluded a deal for the delivery of 3000 tons of wheat to the Turkish city of Samsun with payment in bitcoins. Futures for bitcoins from the CME Group were used to hedge the risks of the deal, reports Bloomberg.
The deal was conducted as early as December of last year, but the announcement was made after all the terms of the contract were fulfilled.
Information about the transaction was confirmed by the head of the company Ivan Vikulov.
"We are trying to develop a cross-border payment system, which is simpler and faster than those that are available now on the market. As far as we know, this is the first transaction to pay for ship freight by crypto-currencies, "Vikulov said.
Now the company Prime Shipping Foundation seeks to get a banking license in Gibraltar, where the legislative base for regulating block-projects will be formed. According to the representatives of the company, this will simplify and speed up the procedures for converting the currency to digital and vice versa.
Recall, in early January, the Chinese company Shandong Bohi Industry for the first time used a block-based platform for the sale of soybean beans to the American agribusiness Louis Dreyfus.
