Wall Street veteran Steve Eisman, who served as inspiration for Steve Carell's role in "The Big Short," said he did not understand the value of digital assets.
At a recent convention in Hong Kong, Eisman said the appearance of Bitcoin was only fueled by "speculation" and fraud.
"I do not see the point, what is the added value of cryptocurrencies? Nobody has been able to give me an answer to this question".
Steve Eisman currently manages a portfolio in Neuberger Berman. He was one of the few fund managers to predict the financial crisis of 2008.
The man follows in the footsteps of billionaire investor Warren Buffett, who repeatedly criticized digital assets, denouncing in particular the existence of a "genuine speculative bubble" around Bitcoin.
"I do not touch it"
For his part, Berman said "I do not understand" the reasons why the crypto-tones were not regulated in a "stricter" way. And if he had felt the forerunners of the financial crisis and decided to bet on a "great short", he said he did not intend to speculate on the encrypted currencies:
"I do not touch it, I have no idea what I see ... And I'm not interested"
He said at the conference, adding that he also kept out of the investment in fiat currencies.
