I don't trust Poloniex anymore, Steem/SBD STILL DISABLED!

in bitcoin •  7 years ago

A large majority of us when earning our Steem have to deposit it somewhere, right? So many go to Poloniex, a leading exchange that holds tens of millions of dollars worth of Steem and Steem Dollars alone. They go through millions of dollars worth of trades EVERY single day, and yet they have horrible service. No phone number, constant lagging servers, potential price manipulation, DDOS attacks and the lack of preparation it seems for such things, cases of funds disappearing, pending tickets for weeks, and the problems go on and on.

Won't take my word for it? How about let's look at some of the fun reviews:

Raving customers!

Avoid with your life..

So I've been wanting to cash in about 800 or so Steem for over a week now, and yet this little issue has been bugging me since HF19 came out. I understand why Poloniex disabled Steem and SBD, but over a week? I still never got the Steem that I sent, and I think the others on this platform who deposited also lost their deposits. I think we might not see them even after everything is re-enabled, but then again.. when will that happen?

On top of that, Siacoin got disabled?

LOOK AT THESE SEXY ASS DOWNWARD TRENDS!!!! YEAHHHHHHH livin' the dream

I honestly think Polo's manipulating the prices, but what do you think? When will it be re-enabled?

Btw:

Wouldn't it be nice to sell SBD for some nice profit? There's good %... oh wait. Can't.

YOU CANT DEPOSIT. HMM.

I know exactly what you mean and how you feel... My Sia wallet is disabled for more as a month over there! The good thing is (or was, I did not check it out for more as two weeks), you're still able to sell the coins in to BTC and then withdrawn it to another exchange! But for your steem which you already have send... damn! It hurts! And now the price went down... if you did send 800 steem, which is now 0.60 usd less worth then a week ago, you lost +- 480 USD, due to Poloniex... and if the funds never arrive, you lost even more... I'm sorry to hear this! But you know, keep on working on good posts like you do, you'll make even more funds! :-)

I stopped using them a few weeks ago and switched over to Bittrex and have been way more happy with their service. Seems to work a decent amount faster for deposits/withdrawals, and I've heard they have really good customer service.

Poloniex has been so horrible lately, that's why I prefer Bittrex. The bitcoin withdrawal fees are pretty high but STEEM withdrawal is cheap as hell. I hope Bitshares gets as much volume as Poloniex and Bittrex, this shit wouldn't happen there because of the decentralised nature. Steem on!

Here's another upvote for Bittrex until Bitshares or some other decentralized exchange pulls in the mindshare to surpass them!

Poloniex is still the platform for margin trading imo.

Atleast BTC withdrawals still work! Now I would be pissed if my btc was locked.

side note: fuck coinbase. they lock you out and keep your btc until you send in i.d

COINBASE.... oh man, my FAVORITE! (just kidding, they're a sack of shit) honestly fuck 90% of all btc companies out there!

Serious questions as a noobie. What companies do you recommend?

Im new to this world and I saw your video over exchanges going down few weeks ago and how they are not really reliable when you need them most. Now I know who NOT to use.

Coinbase and Poloniex are the Comcast and Time Warner Cable of the trading world :)

Oh god, those two are the worst.

I think all companies in crypto need to step up there customer service. Hurting the industry.

Oh totally dude, if only the crypto world was more professional sigh

Poloniex is damn just trapping us there, i SBD to sell there but cant deposit. a small profit in this bloodbath would be achievement, which poloniex is not letting happen.

Of course! I hope you get your money out man :/

yo man use bittrex i used it about 3 days ago i got £7.80 for 5.804 steem but it was my first time selling alt-coins so i didn't know that i could sell them for more money. Bittrex is the place to go for selling alt-coins it was super easy even though it was my first time trading.

Bittrex is having some issues too though. I don't trust anyone at the moment, honestly screw it. I just decided to power up again

You used to like Poloneix! The old you would of liked it. Want site do you use to now instead of it?

I am really new to the crypto-realm. Which exchange would anyone recommend, and why? Thank you

This is the trouble with HFT Centralized Exchanges...More often than not they are Market Makers...meaning that they have "inside information" before the order gets executed...so the Centralized Exchange will be tempted to undermine the Free Market by capitalizing on this "inside information" for themselves.

i do agree with what your saying. sucks that in this world is seems like if theres a way to manipulate the system then there will be some ass hole there doing it

Fine post. Same thoughts here. I strongly advice people to only buy in to cryptos that have a solid background: A solid team, product, advisors, preferably VC investors, etc. Sell all cryptos that don't have this solid background. It's a waiste of money. Besides coinmarketcap.com there is: https://www.coincheckup.com. This site did all the research for you. It's truly amazing. Check for example: https://www.coincheckup.com/coins/Steem#analysis To check Steem Detailed analysis

Moved from Poloniex to Bittrex. Loads better. Fast, simple, clean. The problem i have now is that I cant get verified to tier 2 on poloniex (been 12 weeks, sent tickets and everything, but not even a courtesy message to say sorry), so Im having to move my whole holding out at under $2000 a day, which is taking ages. this is despite them moving all their moderators to support functions. Polo will have to work very hard to get my custom back.

Yeah, Bittrex is having some SBD/Steem issues among other things as well. Don't trust anyone, especially Kraken lol.. what a fucking joke this all is!

Well i am not from Poloniex but i am with them for more than a month.. the only thing i did in start was to sent my documents for verified account which is still pending but I never got any withdrawal problem with them... i used Steem, BCN, NEM, RIPPLE and Bitcoin and all transactions worked well without any delay... So i am not saying they are good or bad!!! But with me so far everything works fine..

And hopefully it stays that way, but if you use them enough.. you might see some glitches/lag/errors for sure. I've went through tens of thousands of dollars worth of transactions and it seemed okay at first, but then the more I started using it the worse it got.

I am agree with you.. well brokers all over the world have issues.. from price manipulation to rip off accounts etc.. dude we are in a world where nothing is for sure... Nothing!
