Japan has decided to establish a new agency to address cybercrime better. The Tokyo-based center brings together 500 analysts and investigators who will fight foreign currency theft. More than 3 million attempts to steal digital information were recorded last year. The hackers stole more than 17 billion yen.
The new law enforcement unit is expected to streamline efforts to combat cybercrime. The center will operate from Tokyo. More than 500 analysts and investigators from various branches of Japanese police and other security services will be working in the new agency, Kyodo said. Authorities hope to address Internet security issues more efficiently.
