In summer of 2013, Lealana pronounced (LAY-UH-LANA) announced their “Lealana Physical Litecoins” as a friendly competitor to Casascius. Initially, they focused on Litecoin, which is considered the silver to Bitcoin’s gold, but a few months later, Lealana expanded the coin offerings to include both silver Litecoins and Bitcoins.
Lealana LLC is based in Hawaii and run by Noah Louis (also known as “Smoothie”). The brand has Hawaiian inspiration that features Hawaiian-style artwork on both sides of the coin. They even include a Hawaiian translation of the motto “Vires en Numeris” (strength in numbers) that is showcased on the Casascius coins.
Lealana Bitcoins come in brass, pure silver, and a Bitcoin that combines both gold and silver (like Casascius).
Many of the Lealana Bitcoins are designed to mimic their Casascius counterparts. This coin is directly inspired by the 2013 Brass Bitcoin made by Casascius.
Lealana coins are categorized into 3 distinct sub-types: Black (serialized and non-serialized), Green, and Buyer-funded Black (which are quite rare). The color refers to the first-bits that are shown on the hologram-side of the coin.
There are 10,000 .1 BTC Lealana Brass Bitcoin that have been minted and the green address is by far the most common. Only 400 have black addresses (along with 100 Black Buyer Funded) and 9,500 have green addresses like this one.
