It's been reported a hacker has attacked the Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) system. The system is being held for the ransom of one Bitcoin, or around $8,300 USD at the time of writing this article. The hacker removed necessary programs that plan bus routes and dispatch employees.
In an unexpected tactic the hacker demanded a single Bitcoin to stop the attack, warning SacRT workers that they can and will attack again unless they pay. This has warranted SacRT to remove all credit card payment options until further notice. The small amount requested makes the attack strange, with recent attacks on HBO reaching as high as $250,000 ransom.
