My View On Vertcoin - $VTC

Cool video! Like I said, I feel like I missed the boat already on VTC and I'm waiting for a dip. But in the meantime, I'm wondering if you know more about the Vertcoin miner?

I initially got into crypto because my ex-bf and me mined some Litecoin back in 2013/2014 (free money, we thought!) but stopped when it started destroying the graphics cards (costly endeavour :( ). Do you know if Vertcoin mining is equally as damaging, or did they figure out some hashing algorithm that doesn't burn through graphics cards? If I could mine it safely, I would!

Mining is essentially hardware torture. Unless you've designed a rig with really strong active cooling, your hardware will suffer and die young. FWIW, I've been buying older high-end graphics workstations on ebay for next to nothing and mining CPU / hard-memory specific algos (like N-Scrypt) with fantastic ROI. They just take up a lot of room....

I asked someone on their discord he said, "vertcoin doesnt have that problem, we dont even have an amd miner that works. only the power efficient nvidias mine vert. I dont hear of anyone burning out the amd cards either tho. quality standards are better these days. Huge coolers come standard." He thinks is possible maybe your old graphics card was defective? I would start mining before the halving if you end up doing so lol.

Ah, it's no use then, I've got an AMD card. And no, the old ones weren't defective.. Mining eats up hardware like no tomorrow, it's a hidden cost that most people don't factor in when calculating the profits. It took 3 years of hodling to make a profit on it, in hindsight. Ordinary graphics cards aren't meant to run full load 24/7, even with the heatsinks. It took a few months for the first oddities to start occurring and eventually one card died completely while another ended up slightly buggy. I've got one left which I am using now, but if it breaks I'll have broken my desktop pc!

Yeah I looked into it but I've spent too much on my MBP to have to be final cut ready, and good for editing, to risk losing it to mining. I would love to do it just for the fun of it.. alas, not in the cards for me lol. Don't break your computer, who will comment on all my steemit posts then? lol

I better stay safe too then. Like I said, the whole mining ordeal back in the day didn't turn out profitable until earlier this year.. so, not really in a position to do that again. If I had spent the money on buying crypto instead of mining crypto I would've had much more.. so that will be my tactic this time

Well. If you buy brand new cards. Use them for mining. They all have three year warranty. Your goal should be mine for a year and sell them. The buyer purchasing still has warranty left to swap the cards.

Yeah, that's too much hassle and risk for me. Plus electricity is super expensive here anyway. I thought maybe Vertcoin had some different unique approach to the mining deal, but it sounds like I won't be able to make it work
