My First Mining Rig Experience!!!

in bitcoin •  7 years ago

I am not a tech savvy guy, nor do I call myself a "computer guy," but I do know how to follow directions from 50+ hours of youtube videos and I know that some day BITCOIN and the likes, will change the internet as we know it. So I have decided to build my very own mining rig. I plan on mining for Ethereum at first, as long as there is still PoW. But the journey thus far has been an interesting one; First, finding the parts are nearly impossible now, however I was able to come up with everything (I think) I need, then after waiting about a week for all my parts, this is what I have come up with...

I built the rig myself, after overspending in Lowes, i think I bought enough material to build five of these things!
After waiting a week for parts, and watching the price of Ethereum rise like the seven seas, I ended up ordering the wrong RAM for my motherboard, and now I have to wait even longer until the correct one come in lol!

I am absolutely playing this thing by ear but, maybe I'll luck up, make a mistake and this thing will WORK!!!

If you have any advice or guidance, please feel free to comment. I should get my RAM tomorrow and I will update the STEEMIT community on my Epic Mining Journey (to be continued)...

watch a linus tech tip video because it is the same concept as building a regular pc but your off to a good start its kind of hard to mess up when following a tut on youtube good luck though

Thanks for the tip! And you were right, you really couldn't go wrong following step by step, however I had to look at about 8 different videos to get every aspect... This is how clueless I was, I had the DVI cable from the card going to the motherboard and I got mad at best buy cause they didn't have a part I just knew I was missing to get video lol. They finally told me that the DVI from the card went to the monitor lol...little embarrassed, but I'm mining now. All I have to do now is figure out how to mod the BIOS and I'm afraid to do that in the fear of ruining the card and they are really rare nowadays!
